Default Yankees' Brian Roberts isn't hitting that badly, Joe Girardi says

"You look at Brian Roberts' season and I know the numbers don't stick out," the manager said. "But if you look at all the hard-hit balls he's had, he's swung the bat better than his numbers show."

Girardi might be onto something. When Roberts hits the ball, 27 percent of the time it's a line drive, according to Fan Graphs. That's 4 percent higher than his career average. Also according to Fan Graphs, Roberts' ground ball (38) and fly ball (38.8) percentages aren't too far off his career marks.
