Point is simple to you and C2, this guy has been practicing with the 1st and 2nd team defense, while Noso has been with mostly the scout team. He is number 2 on the Depth Chart right now for a reason, and we all know how Spurrier is. But let me remind you what he told the man, when he pitched our school. He said I will be the head coach at SC, as long as you are playing there. Last time I recall Steve Spurrier saying that to any QB ever, never. His skills impress me, and if they don't you, then your blind. The kid's ability with the dump off pass, is better than some starting NFL QBs. He sees the open guy, and gets him the ball, and he will do that in our offense. No one is trying to dethrone Dylan Thompson, but people are saying, boldly and correctly that Mitch is the next guy in line.

![]() There isn't a depth chart behind Thompson right now. That won't be hashed out until the Fall.
Both Nosovitch and Mitch have taken their snaps with the 1st, 2nd, and scout units. Both of them have shown ability during Monday Night Football and other various scrimmages. Both of them have been very inconsistent. Connor Mitch had a very inconsistent Spring. He started off slow but got better towards the end. He has not done anything that has deemed him the heir apparent and if he doesn't play this year, then he is in the same boat as the other QBs on the roster. He very well might win out but its nothing guaranteed right now. And Coach Spurrier's handwritten notes are nothing new. Lorenzo Nunez wouldn't have picked USC if Spurrier had told he and his family that he was leaving after Connor's career was over. Fact is, USC has to tell all recruits that to combat the negative recruitment that NC State and our other rivals feed our high profile targets. Fact is no one knows when Steve will hang it up other than Steve. It could be 5 years from now, it could be next year.

great post, but I kinda doubt even SOS knows when he will retire. He might have something generally in mind, but I doubt he knows.

![]() With all due respect to several posters , if Mitch isn't the starter in 2015, it would be a huge upset. Also, if Nos doesn't improve this fall, I doubt he will ever be a starter. I understand Nunez will have every opportunity to win the job, but Mitch will have 2 more years in the system and unless Nunez comes in and performs much better than expected, he'll be playing behind Mitch. And lastly, Nunez is much more of a project out of high school than Mitch was his first year.

![]() There is a lot of garbage in this thread. I am curious if the posters that are not sold on his ability to play QB even know much about Nunez outside of basic stats on a recruiting site.
He is going into his senior year of high school, he has plenty of time to continue to develop as a QB. If he had reached his ceiling during his junior year of high school it would be very, very bad. Nunez took home QB MVP honors at RCS and was a top performer at the Golden Arm challenge. He is significantly more decorated as a QB than any of the players mentioned that made the transition from QB to their collegiate positions. Last thing I would like to mention. South Carolina is a lot stingier for a lack of a better word when it comes to offering quarterbacks vs other positions. Mangus/ Spurrier will not offer a prospect unless they watch them throw in person and know that they can make all the throws required in our offense. All else aside, that fact alone should put any worries to rest about Nunez's abilities as a QB. |

![]() We've gone through a long procession of qbs since SOS arrived at USC. At one time or another, posters just like the above, have proclaimed each of their greatness as the coming of a qb who will win the job hands down as soon as they get on our campus to show their stuff. The beat goes on. Practice and game performance will settle the speculation for most of us but there will always be a few who carry the banner for a qb who hasn't performed.

![]() Interesting days when we have a highly regarded 4* qb commit to us and several think he will fit better at receiver. I think he makes the transition to college qb well and does a great job.

IT'S MY GAMEFACE !
|
![]() All I care about with this kid is that Spurrier and our coaching staff thought
highly enough of him to make a push for him. As for his ranking in HS by whatever service you want to believe, all I'm interested in, is how well he develops AFTER he signs and is on campus in Gamecock practice gear. After that, it's all up to him as to how far he can go with this team. As for as him at the HS level, I haven't read through this entire thread, but wondering if anyone has seen what I saw looking at his highlight vids ? do any of you see a similarity to Connor Shaw's presence in the pocket ? It's uncanny in my opinion. Not talking about his arm or touch, but his mobility and awareness, and his ability to move around, buy time and to get downfield in situations when nothing is open.... he makes something out of nothing the way Connor did once he took over the starting job. IMO, almost a mirror image of Connor in the pocket when the play is developing ! I'm also (as an old dude) smiling because his throwing style is like that of Johnny Unitas. Almost straight overhand vs the short three quarter style release Shaw had. (more like a baseball catcher throwing to second base). The main thing about Nunez is that he has good touch and mobility. If he has the heart that Shaw did from the day he stepped onto the field of the Proving Grounds, I'm Nunez's number one fan regardless of where he is on the depth chart. Kids like that are always going to be successful. Welcome to the Gamecocks Mr Nunez (if you stay committed to SC).
