Raise your hand if you thought Tiny Richardson would go undrafted. Admittedly, I never read any draft reports on him but I was shocked he has to go FA. Gotta start keeping up better, I guess.

Why is it guys that dont get drafted cant return to school to finish their eligibility? College students who interview for a job can still stay in school if they aren't hired. I never understood this, could someone explain as to why they cant return to school. I was thinking yesterday if Sutton, Quarles, and Hampton returned for their Senior seasons then our D would be stacked!! Too bad I know.

Sutton has exhausted his eligibility.

Because if they decided to come back, we would have to tell a 17-18 year old HS kid they couldn't come to Carolina anymore because a guy who chose to leave the program early has decided he wants to come back. Burning a signees scholarship would be the only way these guys could come back. Except for Sutton because he was a senior.

Right. Except it wouldn't be a 17-18 year old HS kid. They've got a signed agreement binding USC to them for 1 yr. USC would have to go cut a current member of the squad if a player returning took them over 85.

McShay's $.02 is that... Being a 5'9" CB who ran in the 4.6's, and had off filed issues stacked up and caused a talented player to not get drafted.

Vic's best play would have been to stay in school, get a degree, showcase leardership, keep his nose clean and work on his craft.

Still miffed at why KQ didn't get drafted.

Now that is interesting, but I'm not surprised. They are the ones writing the checks and certainly are tired of getting burned.

I'm also going to speculate that they have noticed the amount of UDFAs that seem to emerge/surge past some of the top guys...likely due to love for the game.

Absolutely...but that applies to many of the guys...look how many nobodies got drafted ahead of some of the bigger names? The media draft experts missed big time...a lot of it has become tabloidish media reporting.

Exactly. Now substitute 4.4 for 4.6's & leave everything else the same. Hampton is on someone's team today. No doubt at all imo
BTW 4.6's is being generous when he ran 4.69

While I think SC has had a few more players go early in the last few years (going to happen with success), you can see that plenty of other schools have the same scenario. Looks like quite a few early entrees did not get drafted this year.

The one thing that stands out, and we all need to not forget:
- the NFL is looking for elite athletes and talent and will look hard and wide to find it. A lot of the talent they find is in places most don't expect.

If we look objectively....it should be kinda obvious why Jadeveon, Bruce, Ace, MI6, Alshon, Stephon, etc...went high. Those guys were all elite athletes, elite talent, or both.

Damiere Byrd fits that profile...not sure if we have anyone else on our current team that does.....maybe Skai Moore or Pharoh Cooper.
Last things first: if you think we only have 2-3 elite "athletes" or "talents" on our team this year then you must think we're in for one sh*tty season.

Secondly, yes, the NFL does sometimes find talent in places you wouldn't expect, but more often than not GMs fall into the trap of attempting to be "clever" and "discover" talent from places that aren't high profile. (See: AJ Jenkins and Brian Quick from App State being drafted ahead of Alshon in 2012 and never playing a down. Or the kid Arizona drafted from Pittsburgh State this year when they could've had Bruce this year.) Let's not act like GMs are experts and never whiff on picks.

Scouts would have found the same freaking flaws on Boyd's junior tape had he declared early. His pro day throwing skills would have been just as questionable had his pro day occurred a year earlier. He did not hurt himself by coming back. He was ALWAYS going to be a late round pick after his evaluation by scouts was complete. That isn't just my opinion, that's coming from one of the most respected gurus of NFL scouting.
So true. He was always a pretender

No, no and NO! As the NFL transitions to a pass first league, RB's are the LAST ones that should go. This year, the FIRST running back selected was taken with the 54th overall pick. If you are an ULTRA-elite talent, or have very extenuating circumstances (like Lattimore) you might consider it, otherwise, a RB should stay, stay, STAY!!!!

"To put the fallout of the college dropouts in perspective, this is the 25th year since the NFL welcomed underclassmen. (The rule actually says players are eligible for the draft three years past high-school graduation.) Almost 10 percent of all underclassmen left undrafted in history (36 of 378) were passed over last week."

Damn.

Yea but another year of college puts more mileage on them.

Obviously you don't want to if you're a fringe draft pick, but if you're a guy like Bishop Sankey or Jeremy Hill (or in our case this year Mike Davis). It's probably in your best interest to go.

Easy solution. Don't play. Nobody is making these kids play Football. 99% of kids that play D1 Football will NEVER play in the NFL. I bet that 99% appreciates the sh!t out of that College Degree. Of that 99% I bet less than 50% could even afford to go to College without that scholly. I am so sick of hearing how these poor kids don't get nothing. Typical garbage. If you don't like the game and are mad because you aren't getting paid then DON'T PLAY COLLEGE FOOTBALL. Your not entitled just because you are a College Football player. !!!!
