The ones I attended during this time I would say had about 70k in attendance. Not sure if all tickets were sold...

At the end of the current expansion boom in the SEC Carolina will rank #13 in luxury seating capacity out of the 14 SEC teams ahead of only Vanderbilt which has none. Tanner was quoted in an article recently stating that WB would have no more major upgrades for a while after the parking lot removal and indoor facility EXCEPT possibly adding luxury suites on the east side to match the west side.

Yeah because the few luxury box fans deserve so much. How about the other real fans that don't force thousands of dollars down the University's throat. Pretty sure that noise the opposing team hears doesn't come from the box.

Pretty sure the luxury fans put up the huge dollars to have nice facilities like the dodie which helps bring in blue chips. For those guys it more than just the noise they bring.

Not sure if you're serious. If so you need to figure out who pays the bills. Not just for USC but the USA etc. I am not that person unfortunately but I do understand who is.

[quote=garnet_black215;4164239]Like many of you, I would rather see improvements to the stadium, such as larger bathrooms and concessions and better aesthetics around the outside of the stadium, although the second part has been approved and will look absolutely spectacular once it's completed.

Truthfully, I see no need to expand. 80,250+ works just fine, as evidenced by 18 straight home wins.[/QUOTE

I was thinking on the same evidence you site, " evidenced by 18 ..... wins" EXCEPT I would have used that for the opposite point. improved winning typically breeds improved attendance and donation, which breeds more $ incoming to spend on those things that are attractive to high end prospects which, in conjunction with said winning, breeds improved recruiting talent, which, theoritically, breeds still more winning, more support, more demand and thus more $$.....the cycle continues, the snow ball rolls and grows.

that is what i hoped and expected to explore the detail of. we may be beginning to see some of that in recruiting. hopefully should we continue to do well the rest will follow.

Capacity was supposed to jump to 88,000. Here's the website concerning the expansion:

Missouri is expanding to 76,000 capacity (also less than we currently have)

Ole Miss is enclosing their North Endzone and adding more suites to the South and West stands. Obviously they can charge more for the suites and that project is in conjuction with also building a new basketball arena. Their current capacity is also only 60,000

USC has big projects already going on right now (practice facility, surrounding area outside of Williams-Brice, plus recently built tennis facilities, new track facilities, the beast board, etc.) It's not as though USC is standing still we are constantly upgrading just doing it to different areas that are higher priority.

LSU is adding and upperdeck to their North Endzone for the primary reason of adding Luxary Suites for increased revenue. It will likely increase their capacity to right above 100,000.

Texas A&M has ridiculous money and is basically building a whole new football stadium (we don't have that kind of $)

My question is, do you just want USC to expand if it is not feasible? We are still selling out the same stadium we sold out in the 0-21 era except it is more challenging now with HD tv's and we are selling those tickets at a much higher price. If demand stays strong and increases i'm sure they will look at eventually adding on more suites as that is the route to the most $ but for the time being we are focusing on catching some of our other facilities up so that we can compete with the big boys in recruiting.
Alabama, Georgia, LSU, etc don't have 100% of seats filled for every game either. That's just the nature of sporting events. I'm not sure why people are so obsessed with the notion that we have to have 100% of seats filled for every game. As long as most of the seats are filled for most games, and we sell out for the most important ones then I am satisfied.

I'm interested to know how the scoreboard affects the plans for the north end zone.

Part of the equation of getting people in seats is the opponent. Perennially inferior opponents like UK, Vandy, Ole Miss, etc. will never attract crowds unless they happen to be doing well. Casual fans will be less inclined to go, and may not even watch on TV.

And when/if expansion should occur is expanding in stages an option for WBS?
many thanks for your input. WVP
We could do like Tennessee and just crowd about ten more people into each bleacher row. That would increase the capacity pretty substantially.

Brad Scott's last year (1-10) was not sold out. Holtz's first year (0-11) was sold out. There was a lot of elbow room in the stadium though.

One of the main reasons that its hard to sell tickets at the stadium is that all of the games are on tv and fans don't go to the games in large numbers without tickets. Last year, every ticket was sold by the University, but not very seat was filled...the scalpers may have had to eat a few tix during the year; however, the University got their money so all was good.

The scoreboard foundation was built to allow it to be raised in the future kind of like the one at UTenn. There have been no expansion plans from the university itself for a few years. The 88-90k was from discussion before the board was built. I think the East Side will be renovated before anything else though.

I believe most schools, South Carolina included, should be thinking of ways to keep the fans they've currently got in the stadium, as opposed to contemplating stadium expansion. Every year it becomes more and more attractive, economical, and feasible to watch games in the comfort of your own home.
