I hope he understands UT already has a couple of OT on board. Good luck to him. I still don't understand why kids say things like I'm done with visits, then take 2 more. This is why it's hard for us to pull Virginia kids that live in the western part of the state. Much closer to K-ville than Columbia.

Whether or not he understands it he's still going there which means they did a better job of recruiting him than we did. Just like Derell Scott, he obviously doesn't care about the depth chart.

Must be nice to be loading up on OT talent.

Stewart will be a G. Jones probably will be a T. Clark is most likely a T. If we land Richmond he'd be a T too.

Default Re: Player Rank by Offers

Interesting site. I like the idea but question the limited methodology for weighting the value of an offer. The site needs to go back further than 3 years of BCS rankings to measure offer value.....having us as the most valuable offer over Alabama and some others is questionable.

I understand an offer can be contingent on qualifying and only become commitable once the kid can actually attend. guess all offers have that condition. I understand a school can offer a walk on opportunity which is labeled as such.

I don't understand how a school can "offer" a schoolie to a kid who is qualified and thus able to accept and follow thru except he can't because the offer of a schoolie doesn't actually include a schoolie??
I can claim I am offering you an envelope full of money and even extend a hand holding an envelope. I can call the envelope anything I want but if the envelope doesn't have any money in it then it is NOT an envelope full of money. No matter what I called it in truth I did not offer you an envelope full of $$ and thus what was the point?

Needs updating, Key is now a Gamecock and he's on that list. We have him and Pittman on there.

Not trying to argue, just genuinely curious why we weren't pushing all that hard for Ferrell but should for Rivers?
At one point USC had Blackshear, Rivers, and Key all on board. Its more of me being greedy and seeing the connection that Rivers and Key have. I'm not sure if Coach Ward would re-open communication with Rivers but when he switched to UGA the pay site guys mentioned that this one might not be over if he chose to visit Columbia again.

I do think Blackshear/Key/Sawyer/Wideman/Lewis will be the group we settle on unless there is a big timer like Josh Sweat, Darian Roseboro, or Darrell Taylor that want to come. All of those guys are apparently trying to visit.

Its also been reported that USC might re-sign Devante Covington from GMC.

Talk about DE talent. That list has me worried very little about the future of the D-Line.

Because he is a very talented player and has a high ceiling and you want to recruit as many talented players as possible. Doesn't matter if we already have a few commits at DE. It's a pass rush and stop the run league in the SEC and you need 10-12 linemen to rotate if you want to compete for championships in this league. You don't just let them slide to an East rival if you have a shot.

There are no PROVABLE offers until August 1st, when written offers are mailed to kids. However, these written offers don't appear to be binding. It would be interesting if a kid sent a written acceptance of a written offer, and the school tried to renege. In Contract Law, a written offer and written acceptance is (usually) a contract

Even then, the offer is retractable - as is the "commitment."

The only REAL, Binding OFFER is when the school sends the kid a written Letter of Intent to sign on NSD. But schools have even dishonored those contracts due to oversigning.

Nice company to be in, but that's a crowd.

Believe this thing is playing out just as we thought. Clark set a short term date to announce his decision because he had made up his mind. UT starts slow playing him & other schools now become serious contenders according to some of the recruiting experts. UT comes back, firms up the offer, gets him to come back on campus, & convinces him he is a high priority (when he wasn't 2 wks ago). I believe he goes where he intended/or wanted to go all along & this one's over unless UT bails on him later. That could absolutely happen & has happened especially at a place like UT where they offer 300 kids a year.

Does he trust Butch Jones not to oversign and him end up w/o a scholly because Jones takes other OTs?

I don't think they would drop him, but I also don't believe that they're going to stop going after that in-state OT, Drew, either.

He probably ends up there but they would drop him like a bag of dirt if they needed that scholly for a player higher on their board. They cull recruits like crazy.

I think it is a lot more likely you see even more So and Jr leftovers from Dooley exit the program so we can sign more players than us dropping recruits.

That's quite possible. But if Richmond called Jones in 2 weeks & told him UT had moved down from first on the list , or been eliminated altogether, because they already had X number of tackles committed, then what?

Clark is an out-of-state kid. He is much more disposable than a player like Richmond.

UT already has two OT's committed, they are still recruiting Richmond at the very least. If Clark commits now & Richmond commits say 2 months from now that would be 4 with one of those seemingly a low priority.

With the high needs at multiple positions & large number of offers out there I could easily see a situation where the OL position coach calls Clark in a couple of months & tells him something along the lines of "we will honor your commitment to us but feel you might be a better fit somewhere else".

That happens more than some people realize but it's rarely reported like that because it's really not advantageous to the recruit to admit that he was dropped or encouraged to move along by the team he's committed to.
