If Bosh and Wade both opt out that would give the Heat almost $60million in cap space to retool their team from top to bottom. If they agree to take less $ again they could put together a really good team in Miami that is still the best team in the East either way.

Lebron has so much endorsement money ~53 million/year, he should just get Nike or whoever to give him an extra 10/year in exchange for signing a 10 million/year contract with the team of their choosing. He gets paid the same, and ends up with the best players money can buy!

This is very likely. Wade and Bosh aren't gonna do much better than that if Lebron leaves them.

The 76ers could possibly sign both LeBron and Carmelo.

thats where this ring chaser narrative comes in. hes been to 4 straight finals, he's won 2. he's 29 years old at the top of his game. he doesnt need to stack the deck to compete for titles. the great players that have been mentioned in this thread or were chasing rings were in dire situations while in their prime or past their prime and hadnt won yet. thats not lebron right now so it would seem like it should be beneath him.

it would be sorta like the year jordan left baseball to come back to the bulls late in the season and they ultimately lost to the magic and he decided that offseason he was going to sign with the magic or the rockets. different eras though, the players have a lot more power now and theyre not as competitive.

omer asik has value even at 15 million so a team who can absorb that expiring contract and doesnt think theyll be major players in free agency might take him. for a bum like jeremy lin the rockets are going to have to seriously sweeten the pot with some draft picks or one of their young players. just like i'd be surprised if the lakers will be able to find a taker for nash so that they can make a serious lebron and/or melo push.

I think LeBron's relationship with Wade was more of a factor in coming to Miami than Riley or Spoelstra.

Jordan could do this with his brand and make his NBA franchise double in value, I believe it is collusion though.

No, that was talked about as an option but Wade still has to decide to opt in or opt out.

If he's opts in for his final 2 years on that deal with over $20 mil each year that's horrible for the Heat. Restricts their ability to add a good player. And it pays Wade who is nothing but a role player now close to max $. LeBron could leave then

Zach Lowe breaks down potential LeBron destinations: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/su...ron-landscape/

I had not thought about Phoenix.

Even though it won't happen, I'd still love to see him in Portland.

Main point I was trying to make is Jordan never cared as much about money as he did about competing and winning. Chicago was the perfect spot for him, he said as much in the same article:

As much as he was paid, he was "underpaid" considering the value he brought to the Bulls.
He still did not opt out and take less money...that is a myth! He did sign an 8 year deal that he did not ask to renegotiate but was paid in full while playing baseball and received back to back 1 year 30 and 33 million dollar deals to end his career in Chicago.

I'll just leave this right here:

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1...scottie-pippen

Quote:
Although neither side would reveal the exact wording, the message was clear: The Bulls had one hour, maybe the rest of the day, to beat a $25 million offer from the Knicks, or Michael Jordan was going to sign with New York.

Was it a bluff?

Would Jordan have left Chicago, with Jackson having re-signed and the team coming off a championship, to go play in New York?

It doesn't seem likely, and some people close to Jordan say he would never leave Chicago.

But the Bulls were not willing to take the chance.

They knew the $25 million offer was a possibility because of the outside money from ITT.

The Knicks could well pay Jordan $25 million.

And Jordan said that with Ewing, he could win another title.

And how embarrassing would that be for the Bulls?

So they came up with the $30 million offer, and Jordan signed.

But Jordan was privately angered that such a threat had to be made for the Bulls to meet his price.

I'm well aware that Charlotte is just as easy to market (or market out of) as Miami and even Cleveland ;)
While MJ would take "The King" in a minute (I don't recall disputing that), "The King" will not make The Queen City his "home".
