Not really.

Our penalties were self-imposed in regards to the Whitney.

When we met with the NCAA. They were like, "Uh, not sure why you self-imposed. Everything was handled properly."

I was thinking that the lease wasnt the issue, as the university had an established practice of utilizing the Whitney for long term student housing at similar rates to what the athlete's leases were for. The issue was the fact that we had multiple athletes several months behind on their lease payments and the management for the whitney was not evicting/persuing legal action against them supposedly because of thier status as athletes, even though it was said that this happened often with normal students also and they would get caught up when thier FA came in for the next semester.

Spurrier told the athletes to get paid up and move out because it gave the apperance of impropriety, even though there was nothing abnormal/wrong going on.

Some people amaze me. If there was any risk that this would get us in trouble with the NCAA, then it wouldn't have happened... The university is going to do their homework before doing something like this. come on man

Question: Is character or leadership solely related to the player's academic record and if only for football team walk-ons why is it not totally dependent on athletics participation?

I am pretty sure it doesn't count against the limit, so long as the recipient was not a "recruited athlete."

Another possible “advantage” to being a non-recruited walk-on can be found in situations in which a prospect receives a scholarship from, for example, their high school booster club or a local civic club, such as Kiwanis or Rotary.
If their athletic achievements are the primary reason that a prospect wins such a scholarship, a non-recruited walk-on can accept the scholarship with no consequences.

Got this from an informative site, it explains it pretty well: http://www.informedathlete.com/to-be...r-nonrecruited

This is great, because a walk-on can get this scholarship and it frees up another scholarship for a new recruit.
Thanks for the info.

Again, Whitney....That's the reason some of us are skeptical of our athletic department making sure all the T's are crossed on compliance.
