SPARQ Scores from The Opening - 2014
These results are of course just measuring how each guy did on a random day of testing, and a month later, his results could be very different...but still it's a decent measuring stick for athletic ability and at least it's independently and electronically verified.
Here are some of the things I noticed from sorting/sifting through the data.
They had 38 DB's at the event, they put CB's and S's in the same DB classification. Mark Fields had the 8th highest SPARQ score for DB's. The #1 SPARQ score DB, Tyler Phillips, has 0 offers?!?! Fields had the 3rd Best SPARQ score for CB's. He's currently the #12 CB on the Composite/#7 on 247. There are four 5 Star CB's on the Composite. Minkah had the highest SPARQ Score, Field's score is 20 pts higher than lsu commit Tolliver's, and Marshall nor Sheffield tested.
20 DL participated and all but 2 SPARQ tested. Sweat is a beast. Michael Barnett was 13th. Chauncey Rivers scored a 77, keep him georgia. This was funny until I saw Tim Settle score the lowest out of anybody with a 72. He's a 5 Star, what gives?
18 LB's, Pittman didn't test. 8 of the 18 LB's didn't test. Malik Jefferson is an animal. That tater commit, Chad Smith, had a very high score, good for him.
19 OL's. The tater's Noah Green tested the best, but he's the 2nd smallest OL there. Ivey is a 5 star, but ranked 11th for OL. Burrell didn't test.
18 QB's. Wimbush had the highest score and significantly higher than Gibson. 7 QB's didn't test, so I guess that means we know who the Elite 11 are, not the quitters. j/k
14 RB's. Turner had the 10th highest SPARQ score for RB's. (They don't distinguish b/w RB or APB so guys like Love and Griffin are classified as RB's.) Turner was 10th for the combined RB/APB's who SPARQ tested.
A couple guys that Turner tested better than are:
http://247sports.com/Player/Nick-Brossette-16984 Nick Brossette, 4 Star, 96 Composite Rating, #7 RB, #80 Overall. lsu commit.
http://247sports.com/Player/Mark-Walton-25558 Mark Walton, 4 Star, 94 Composite Rating, #14 RB, #128 Overall, miami commit.
Dexter WIlliam, Mike Weber nor Ray Ray McCloud tested for SPARQ, all are ranked higher than Turner on the 247 Composite. Scarlett tested well, he's a beast.
There were 5 of them. Alize Jones had a good day.
27 WR's, 14 didn't test. Sanders and Campbell are fast, sub 4.4.
"to be honest with you, if you just graded it out, we won in every phase of the game,” Swinney said. “We lost on the scoreboard."
