Forget the scheme for a second, the ability to tackle was abysmal last night. That is just poor ass coaching, or drills.
Exactly: forget the scheme.

No matter what defensive scheme we were using, our guys just didn't look like they knew what they were doing. That's coaching. If we played a good scheme and just got out-schemed by A&M, that's one thing. But our guys just simply did not look like they had been coached at all.

I keep coming back to one thought over and over again: Given how abysmally awful they were last night, how did it never dawn on SOS during practices that maybe our D wasn't playing well?

I was very concerned about our tackling before the season started. Surely the coaches knew this was coming?? I don't understand the no hitting philosophy when you play a 12 game schedule and one loss can ruin your chances of winning the SEC, which is the ultimate goal in the first place.

Hell, it might cost us more than the SEC, it could cost us a bowl game and a highly ranked recruiting class...

The guy in front of me has the ball *****DEER in head lights***** oh where'd the guy with ball go? You other 2 defenders beside me see him? Nope he was here but now he's gone. Oh ok so you guys didn't hit him? Nope. Oh ok I'm sure one of the other guys got him. Wait who scored? How did that happen?

Texas A&M practiced this fall the same amount of time as every other school, but they looked polished and in mid-season form. Their true freshmen all looked like they had been in the program for 2 or 3 years.

That's partly talent, but it is also coaching and intensity. We can't afford to wait until the 3rd or 4th game to get into shape.

Just seems odd that our guys can't remember how to tackle. Hell, they've been playing football as long as anybody else. What happened in the off season?

Yeah, this I don't get. It's kind of silly that we were top 10 team (obviously overrated) and our guys didn't know how to tackle. I would think this is something they look at in recruiting videos: can this guy tackle?

This is a great strategy. Teach tackling. Next week of practice, we can learn how to fill the water cooler, and then the week after that we can learn about proper footwork. Way to go. At this rate will be able to beat Silver Bluff by the end of the season.

What boggles my mind is why people that don't know how to tackle ended up with a scholarship to play football at USC.

Teach tackling. What an outstanding spot we are in

I can imagine today's practice started out with these words: this is a football...
