Let's start with Ryan Tannehill. Argue that he is better than Connor Shaw. |

People need to remind themselves that Connor is not one of those guys born to play QB. He's a great athlete and competitor that chose the hardest position to play and became good at it. But now he's up against the best of the best...and he got his chance, and may be still getting his chance while getting paid. That's all anyone could ask for. Connor's path forward was always about finding a place to see if he could develop into someone that could play. If the Browns give him that chance on the practice team, then that's more than a lot of guys get. |

![]() Ryan Tannehill isn't even close to being a bottom 3 QB... He's really good. Not even going to touch the Russell Wilson comparison. Shaw was good at SC, but Wilson is a top 5-10 QB in the NFL.

I like Connor but comparing him to Russell Wilson is Ludacris. I'm a Steeler fan and he is better than either of our backups. So... |

![]() So is there a time frame...1 week...or less....longer?....that Shaw could be on another team or assigned to the Brown's practice squad?

![]() Things are probably going to be pretty fluid very soon as far as backup QBs are concerned.
Did you see where the Bills signed Kyle Orton today for $5M as a backup? Who's going to be Romo's backup? Grossman perhaps? Do you think he would stay in Cleveland if Jerry Jones offered him the right amount of coin? Fisher left the door open for another QB at STL in his presser today. |

![]() I wasn't necessarily comparing him to Wilson.. I'm saying, he has a similar skillset to Wilson's.

![]() Correct me if I am wrong but players with 4 accrued seasons or more are cut and immediately become free agents and can sign with whomever.
Players with less than 4 seasons accrued that are cut will go through the waiver wire The waiver wire claims process starts 31AUG14 (tomorrow). The Waiver order should be: 1. Houston Texans 2. Washington Redskins 3. Jacksonville Jaguars 4. Cleveland Browns 5. Oakland Raiders 6. Atlanta Falcons 7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8. Minnesota Vikings 9. Buffalo Bills 10. Detroit Lions 11. Tennessee Titans 12. New York Giants 13. St. Louis Rams 14. Chicago Bears 15. Pittsburgh Steelers 16. Dallas Cowboys 17. Baltimore Ravens 18. New York Jets 19. Miami Dolphins 20. Arizona Cardinals 21. Green Bay Packers 22. Philadelphia Eagles 23. Kansas City Chiefs 24. Cincinnati Bengals 25. San Diego Chargers 26. Indianapolis Colts 27. New Orleans Saints 28. Carolina Panthers 29. New England Patriots 30. San Francisco 49ers 31. Denver Broncos 32. Seattle Seahawks It is conceivable that Washington signs Connor to their practice squad and as insurance but I don't see it. It is conceivable that the Houston Texans could sign him but I doubt it. I don't see Jaguars needing him. It is very likely the Browns sign him to their practice squad. Other teams that would be interested are the Jets, Cowboys and Seahawks

![]() Agree...and with the new 10 man practice team (v. 8), it opens a slot for a 4th QB. I don't think the Browns want to lose Connor. But this is where his agent gets into the mix....he is shopping Connor if needed.
Connor being a rookie puts him at the back of the line behind any experienced guys out there that could be signed...especially the re-cycled QBs like Rex Grossman. His path to having any kind of career would be to get signed to practice team, learn offense and show out, get bumped up to the 53 man somehow, eventually get some real PT, and of course look decent. That's not going to be easy...but we know our guy is up to it. |

Yes, the 31 other teams in the league have to "waive" their right to sign the player before the original team gets to "claim" him. If they do not claim him and no other team claims him, he becomes an unrestricted (unpaid) free agent.

I see what you mean. I was pretty much just looking down the wire and see who may be interested. I should have made the Browns comment last.
