I say keep it. However the 4-2-5 has worked for us vs spread teams in the past. Why go away from something that's been working unless we don't have the personnel.

3-4 works...if you have the peronnel.

As said many times, we don't have 3-4 personnel...we don't have big lineman that can eat blockers and big, athletic linebackers.

We have rush linemen who aren't used to eating blockers to let LBs roam...we don't have monster sized LBs that can get off blocks.

I point to Mason Harris...why is he on the field as a 3-4 end at 235 pounds when he is a specialist speed rusher? If he is going to be on the field in a 3-4, he needs to be at outside rush LB...That was an instance many times where our coaches put a player in position to fail...

If we are going to stick with this 3-4...we first need to teach our guys up front to almost block linemen...If that is the case, I'd like to see more Deon Green, Kelsey Griffin, Dukes, Dixon Jr. and Lamin on the line with Surratt (talke about a guy who had a quiet game) and move English and Harris to the outside to speed rush. REally, the only DE I want to see on the line is Dixon.

Truth. You have to eat blockers in the 3-4...small DE'S don't do that.

Deke Adams is a bull rush coach. I don't think he has what it takes to pull off a successful dline inn the sec

I don't care what we run. But whatever we run, be aggressive. We are obviously not good enough to play straight up. We're going to have to blitz but we are also going to have to play tighter in coverage. We will get burned, but we will also cause more mistakes. 99 plays with 0 turnovers is pathetic. Playing safe causes confusion and hesitation which leads to poor tackling. It gave A&M players room in space which is exactly what their offense wants.

Langston Moore in the postgame made a great point. Great defenses, even when they make mistakes, play 100 mph. The players need to make a decision and go with it. If you get burned you learn from it later. But the hesitation and soft coverage is a recipe for more of what A&M gave us.

I was completely shocked that we continued to play such soft coverage for the entire game. We've got an offense that can keep up if the defense can get just a few stops. Defense does not have to be as great as it was a few years back for us to win games.

You are very smart. I think this is one of the most important things we learned from the last game.

All so true.

We have 3-4 defensive ends, but not a nose tackle to control the middle.

Then we don't have linebackers big enough to get to the quarterback. If we did, we could just keep the 4-3.

Also, at times we blitzed too many linebackers to get to the quarterback, which put a bunch of pressure on our young secondary.

We gotta go back to a 4-3 to play to the strengths of our LBs and DTS and save our secondary. The 3-4 neutralizes the positions in which we have the most talent and depth.

Go 4-3.

I like four down linemen. However, I am more concerned with the 10-yard coverage cushion than the 3-4.

Let me say it again so some of you can stop freaking out...WE WILL NOT PLAY THE 3-4 AGAINST UGA or any other team that runs the ball primarily.

The 3-4 is used to help generate a pass rush and get more speed on the field against spread teams. It gets a DT, who is basically useless against a spread team like A&M who throws the ball 60 times a game, off the field and gets a faster LB on the field.

I would keep it but tweak the personnel:

DE - Lamin
NT - Dukes or Dixon Jr. (both are in the 320 - 330 range)
DE - Griffin

LB - English
LB - Moore
LB - Walton
LB - BAW

DB - Harris
DB - Williams
DB - Elder
DB - Lammons

That defensive front is BIG and very good talent wise. Put your pass rushers (English - BAW) on the edge.

Wow.. that would be incredible. Too bad our coaches won't do this. Easily our best lineup by far

A&M sure provided a blueprint on how to beat us. I'm worried that ECU has the same offensive style.

Not sure if anything can be improved upon from a defensive scheme. Our stars don't match up with other team's stars (3,4,5 that is)
