Default 2018 - Carter Bradley

USC is showing interest in quarterback QB Carter Bradley (6-3 195) of Jacksonville, Fla. Bradley has offers from Pitt, Wisconsin, Rutgers, South Florida, Cincinnati, Marshall and FAU.

http://247sports.com/player/carter-bradley-92247

Carter participated in this weekends Elite 11 with Dak Joyner. He finished the competition strongly on the 3rd day.

Sunshine State Sleeper

Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence’s Carter Bradley is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 820 overall prospect in the 2018 class according to the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

However, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound prospect turned in one of the better performances of the Elite 11 Finals earning No. 6 ranking after the pro day simulation and a No. 2 ranking after the 7on7 session by 247Sports. Bradley showed that he belonged in the group of 24 competing in Los Angeles, and registered a better performance than some other signal callers with a higher rating.

Bradley did not earn an invitation to The Opening, but his showing during the pro day simulation and the 7on7 were worthy of advancing.

Honestly we aren't going to get a "gem" with it being known Joyner is the No. 1 priority.

Could turn out to have a career like Dylan Thompson, you just never know.

He's our best chance at the second QB for 2018. The other guys were too good and didn't want to come here and sit for 2 years behind Bentley then have to beat out Joyner.

Tyler Shough is visiting Columbia this weekend. If we can land two QB's between Dak, Carter and Tyler, we'll have a very solid QB class.

Highlights.
http://www.hudl.com/video/3/4311498/...d814969042ae33

Positives: Good touch pass, decent athletic ability to extend play long enough to find a check down, good throwing mechanics.

The only questions are what his is top end arm strength (when he needs to hit a small window, can he get enough zip on the ball). Also, does not have the quickest release, and is flat-footed in the pocket.

Two of those things an be fixed with coaching....and a good OC can scheme around any possible arm strength issues.

Don't see why not. Come here and compete and if you are the best player you will win the spot. This is what Muschamp and company have been preaching to recruits. Obviously any QB coming in will be sitting behind Bentley but the rest is up to them. If he believes that he can beat out Joyner when the time comes then what's stopping him from coming here?

Also, he is a HS Jr, just like Joyner. With good work ethic and coaching, they will improve before they enroll in a University.

Both are very good young QB's with high upside.

I agree. Just looking at where they are now.

And honestly, in today's college football game arm strength is secondary...most passes are within 10-15 yards of the line...almost 10-5 now. And you are right, arm strength should increase once he puts on more weight and gets in a college S&C program.

Any deficiency this young man has right now can be fixed with coaching...that is a good sign.

May take him some time to get used to a primary shotgun offense coming from an undercenter offense...but that to me is a non-issue.

Hopefully with Tyler cancelling his visit, South Carolina could have a better chance of landing Carter.

I'm not sure we will end up offering Carter. I'm beginning to think we'll only get 1 QB in this class. If we do get another QB, most likely he won't play unless he beats out Joyner.

If we get one QB, it will be one more scholarship QB than we will have this year. If something happens to one of this year's QBs (serious injury, transfer) then we can always go the grad transfer route for depth.

I think taking one QB is a smart move. Provided of course, we get the right one (cough, Kereon, cough). We have plenty of other needs to address.

QB Carter Bradley of Jacksonville is gaining more interest from USC. Quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper scouted him during spring practice and the Gamecocks have invited him for their social gathering July 21st. He plans to attend. Bradley recently visited Florida and Georgia and he will be going to Ole Miss and LSU as well as USC. Ed Orgeron at LSU is showing a lot of interest. Purdue and West Virginia offered last week and he also has offers from Pitt, Wisconsin, Rutgers, South Florida, Cincinnati, Marshall and FAU

You have to wonder what Joyner's commitment will mean to the QB recruiting the rest of the way. Personally, I am fine with one - that will give us 4 scholarship QBs next year, which should be enough.

Maybe the staff takes a JUCO QB to come in and be the backup and allow Dakereon to RS...though I doubt they will be able to keep Dak off the field.

I'm starting to think just 1 QB and use the spot they would have used for another QB to get another D/O lineman (O'Neal...guy that could play both even they we offered him as a DL).

We're absolutely 100% taking 2. Joyner knew before committing. Him committing was great but changed nothing in terms of numbers.
