Default Binchotan Japanese charcoal

Anyone ever used it? Didn't want to pay the high price not having known anyone that's cooked with it, so I ordered some thai charcoal called "Thaan" that's supposed to be similar but cheaper. Will post an update on it when it arrives and I cook with it.

Apparently these styles of charcoal burn longer and usually hotter without many flareups from fat renderings...its what the japanese use for their yakitori grills.

I use the lump charcoal from Wally World and I also use the Cowboy Brand from Lowe's. The Cowboy Brand seems to last longer and heat a tad bit better. It also cost a little bit more than the brand that they sell at Wally World.

I have never heard of or tried the Binchotan Japanese charcoal. I would be interested in hearing about it.

Rockwood is my choice (when I can find it). Interested in learning about the Japanese option

Never tried it. Used the Fogo some but mainly stick with Royal Oak.
