Horn’s staff may have a WKU feel

Two or three of Horn’s assistants may join the new USC coach in Columbia

Western Kentucky has its replacement for Darrin Horn. That likely means the new USC coach will soon have his top assistant and two more members of his staff. Five days after Horn left for South Carolina, his old school hired Texas assistant Ken McDonald on Sunday. Western Kentucky passed over Horn’s top assistant, Scott Cherry, who is now likely to join Horn at USC, according to sources.

That also clears the way for Horn to bring in his other two assistants from Western Kentucky and still keep one staff position open for a veteran assistant. In that scenario, Neill Berry, a 25-year-old who was Horn’s third assistant last season at Western Kentucky, could become USC’s director of basketball operations, sources have said. He would replace former Gamecock walk-on player Shelden Everett, who was in his first year on Odom’s staff.

I'd like to see Potosnak stay at USC; I think our recruiting improved after he was hired by Odom.

Odom had one assistant who was 50 and two others at 40 we are defintely getting a lot younger.

i'm surprised Ron Morris didn't suggest that Odom goes to WKU. i mean he said we needed op, and dicky-v said we needed bob knight. wouldn't be surprising, although absoured.

I agree. I said the same on an earlier post. Coach Pot should get real consideration from coach Horn to stay at USC.
