I think the reason our team has gone nowhere for the past few season's is due to all the negative attudes our fans when we lose, like so many you on CockyTalk. Yeah, you know who I'm talking about. You ought to be absolutely ashamed posting and saying negitive. Some fans just don't realize that the reason they're not happy with the Cocks, is simply because they've trained their minds in the wrong direction. They've trained their mind to complain and see only the negatives. Its time for all of us to try to retrain our minds and form positive mindsets about SOS and the Gamecocks. We've got to stay grateful and developing a positive attitude and focus on what's right rather than what's wrong. Its not going to happen over night, but us Cock fans must discipline ourself to focus on the positives. We must all make a conscious effort to focus on what's going right for the gamecocks, and let the coaches worry about correcting what's not.

Got to remember, a true fan the teams 12th man. When the Clemson fight broke out 6 years ago, I almost punched the Clemson dude sitting behind me. We've got to watch our Teams back, not kick them when they are down guys!

My mind is trained to be objective. I see good and bad, not just one or the other. I praise when I see good, I grumble when I see bad. I am not ashamed because I've seen some bad lately. When I see good, I'll beat the garnet drum again. Or I'll just wait til next year like usual and beat the drum, hoping the tune changes.

Let me ask some questions: what will be accomplished when the fans fixate on only the positives and ignore the negatives (like poor effort and fundamentals, repeated mistakes, etc)? Do you really think that'll propel the team to greater heights? Wouldn't that eliminate booster expectations (and money) and create a lemming fanbase content with whatever happens from season to season, thus removing from the coaching staff and athletic director any sense of responsibility for the output of the program?

Hogwash. All of this post. I cheer so hard my throat is sore every Sunday. I go to every game - home and away. I am invested in this team so when I don't get a return on my investment I feel i have the right - no, I have the duty to be critical. I take losses like this past Saturday personal.


To say that "we have gone nowhere because of the negative attitude of the fans" is simply ridiculous. I only wish we had such an impact on the program. There are some very smart people here and through their venting and criticism have come up with many good ideas and observations I only WISH the staff would take on board.

are you blaming the fans for our past win loss records? Sos said himself we need to expect more, so why do the opposite and praise a loss? I give my dog praise when craps outside. These are young adults not 12 year olds. Critisism is needed to prepare them for life after college anyway. Why coddle them?

Our team does need to be praised for what it has done. But needs to be told what its doing wrong. All 3 of our loses were stupid mistakes. We shot ourselves in the foot everytime. We beat ourselves.

I still believe in our young team. Sure, we did not play well enough to be competitive this past week but this is the first game like that this year. Every other game we have been in and that's against some very experienced and talented teams. Let's not give up on these guys. Apart from the the fumbles we played pretty decent.

I guess our players our just no match for the negative attitudes of some of the fans? LMAO. I think you know this is a complete crock. All teams have fans that criticize their players when they don't play well and lose. They deal with it. The reason the team is struggling is that they have not done the things they have needed to do prepare for these games down the stretch. The offense is not sharp and has not been since Blake Mitchell left two years ago. They aren't working hard enough, getting precision, establishing team chemistry so that all the parts are working together. It has not one thing to do with the negative attitudes of fans. That is just silly.

Venting is good, but not when it comes to kicking one of our best players \ leaders under the bus for an off night. Felt like punching a guy today who said that this player must have gotten "Paid" before he played Tenn. Comments like that are so uncalled for. I At the rate we're going, won't be long before the Norwood sucks Thread goes up.
