Dan Reeves was asked this morning on Atlanta's 680AM The Fan if he had any interest in coaching at his alma mater. My jaw about fell to the floor when he said that he would consider South Carolina "if, and this is a big if, Spurrier decides to move on."

I love Dan Reeves, but Id rather have a young, energetic coach..
Mark Dantoni is my choice... he is an alum, and he knows how to beat his Arch-Rival (They beat Michigan 2 years in a row for the first time in over 40 years) |

Isn't Dan about 65 years old? Why on earth would he want to take on a another coaching job when he is at retirement age and that is (as you say) IF SOS decides to move on RIGHT NOW. If it were a few years from now, then Reeves would be nearing 70...this makes no sense to me.

Building and maintaining a top program is about much more than Rah Rah energy. It is about talented asst coaches, recruiting, preparing a team, and commitment and discipline among players. Reaves has stronger NFL contacts than anyone we have ever had - a great recruiting edge. He always brought out the best in his players and showed class and ability with the media. He could get top assistant coaches and doesn't need the job. If he took it, it would be for what he could accomplish and nothing else. I don't think he even has a son whose career he needs to advance.

More importantly, even if EVERYTHING you said were true and he could recruit well and have a great staff to caoch them up it still would be a bad hire. How long would he be here? The one think constant with our football program and it's lack of success is turnover at the coaching position. We need someone to be here more than 5 years. |

After SOS leaves... I hope we get a coach that does not have to set their teeth on the night stand before going to bed each night. Nothing personal... but I would like someone below the age of 55 next.

When Spurrier leaves...We need a young coach that is hungry to win and loves to recruit. I think everyone can agree on this.

I would like to see this as well. A coach that has something to prove. One who has roots in Columbia. I would like to see Charlie Strong back home.

Turning into? I think the average age of FL and SC is probably 75.

I agree with the notion that we should get a "younger" coach, but with experience.
Love him or hate him, have to give Kiffin credit for what he's doing at UT and following suit in the event that Spurrier leaves USC would be a good move. I'd like to see Peterson from Boise St or a coach from another lower tiered school that is dying for a chance to coach in the SEC. Never know...Tubberville might want to coach again, Bowden might find a home back in SC, or, perhaps we DO get lucky and find the "Darrin Horn of college football" ;) |

Who's Joe Horn? I'm not so sure about a Boise coach. They have better talent, facilities etc...than their competition (with the exception of one or two games a season). Dan Hawkins is sure as heck not looking so hot.
