Gamecock lineman arrested on sexual conduct charge

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A former Newberry High School standout and current Gamecock offensive lineman was been arrested and charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
Officials say 21-year-old Kentrell Davis was arrested and booked Thursday night at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and given a $20,000 surety bond.
Investigators say a female acquaintance of Davis told them that she was sexually assaulted by him back on May 31.
According to the official Gamecock website, Davis is a fifth-year senior lineman who has seen limited snaps on the team since he was recruited to play in 2008.
Davis earned honors as a high school senior for his playing abilities, and played in the Shrine Bowl and All-American Bowl before coming to Columbia.

Just saw this too. I met Kenny when he was a senior at Newberry High, good kid, but never produced on the field like I hoped he would. Doesn't look like he will either.

yep if all is true, i hate it for this guy he could've been a beast if only he gave it everything he had on the field and off but when you make bad decisions bad things happen

He is innocent until proven guilty but if it is found that he is guilty then he has to be gone.

He was charged two weeks ago and had his scholarship pulled and has not been with the team since

Kenny was an underachiever in his time here, and didn't have a spring
where you thought he was going to bring anything extra to the game
than what he had in the last three years. This is an embarassment for
the team yes, but not a blow to the program. (IF) true, then as C2 said
above. .."Another Scholarship". That's the way I view it.

Ever since the Duke lacrosse fiasco, I'm skeptical of claims of sexual assault.

Don't get me wrong- I'm not trying to 'blame the victim' or anything like that, but its far too easy this day and age for a woman to claim assault after-the-fact.

If this is true, I've got zero sympathy for Davis, and do not want him a part of our team in any way, and I trust he wont be. But lets let this go through the legal process.

In the meantime, based on policy we have in place, he is suspended from the team until that process is completed.

From the limited interactions I've had with Kenny in class and in 5 Points, he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. That makes me look at this claim with some skepticism. However, if he actually did do what he's accused of then see ya.
