How's Marcus Lattimore coming

Haven't been on here much at all and haven't seen anything about him. So is he going to be 100% by opening day? Do you all think he will be 100% mentally or a little timid on opening day? I hope he comes back full force, but I'm skeptical

My girlfriend had a Summer I class with him and said he was still wearing a compression on his leg but it didn't look like it bothered him or anything. Probably just an advanced healing/therapy measure.

What I really thought was awesome is that she pointed out what a classy young man he is. Always holding the door open for her and other people, saying "yes ma'am" to her (she's 30) and generally being a really polite young man.

While other school's players are getting caught with weapons, drugs, and beating the hell out of their girlfriends and seemingly everyone else around them, our guy is polite, cordial, and focused as hell on the prize.

Makes me proud as hell of him and his entire support network, particularly his mother as I'm sure she has been the driving force behind making him the awesome young man he is today.

I don't think we will know how far along he is until he starts getting hit. Not only will it be interesting to see how he attacks the mental hurdle but I'm not convinced that thing won't blow up on him at some points during the season. Lucky there is a deep stable of backs.

What makes you say that?

I didnt realize there were that many football players who immediately blow out their surgically repaired knee to make one feel this way.

I remember Sturdivant, the OT for UGA, but thats the only recent player I can think of off the top of my head.

I meant the swelling. Blow up is too harsh of a term I guess.

By the time the season comes along (and probably even practice) he won't notice any inflamation or swelling ... at least he shouldn't.

He's been able to run for a while now, so I'm sure that knee has been put through as much as he physically can.

Been watching him play since he was a freshman at Byrnes. One thing Lattimore is not is timid.

I think they'll ease him back in the 1st 5 games until his annual asskicking of UGA.

How many torn ACL's have you seen him come back from since then?

im interested to see how he tackles the mental aspect and if he's timid making cuts and also if he can put that 15 lbs back on which I would love to see

Good. Glad to hear that. We don't need a "thug" getting caught up in drugs, gangs, etc.

From what I read earlier this year, he wants to play at 215-220 this year.

I dont think he will be timid at all. First of all that is against his nature and secondly he did not hurt it running or cutting the first time. It was just wrong place at the wrong time with Bruce making some saftety look silly.

Mechanically, the knee should be not only fine, but stronger. Still, it is mental thing. How many of us fans will hold our breath the first few carries and anytime he even remotely gets up a little slowly? I know I will.

His knee will not be an issue and should actually be stronger than it ever was. However, mentally I expect him to be a bit gunshy at first but I think he'll be back to full force by UGA.
