Coach Lawing
Talking on 107.5 right now..
1. JD is a first round guy now..it's his job to make him the first guy taken. High football IQ...only get better 2. Kelcy should be a dominate SEC DL this year 3. Devin has put in the work to have a tremendous senior year, high football IQ. Still putting on good weight. 4. Dixons will play and he expects them to contribute, talked about coaching their dad..strong family guys..good kids 5. Says Dukes will play early, still coming along 6. Byron has become a good leader for the group, expects him to contribute Keeps stressing player evaluations (says stars are crap pretty much)..keeps stressing HIS responsibility to coach these guys to their potential. Talks about the kind of guys on his unit..all good kids and used the term 'high football IQ' a lot. Just a few notes thought some may be interested in hearing **I could listen to him talk for hours.. |

Both of these coaches are amazingly humble, intense, and intelligent. We have the right 2 guys leading the 2 most important units no doubt.

Coach Lawing has been with this team a long time, he is very dedicated. Met him once... my high school math teacher about 5 years ago at Blythewood was his daughter.. he came to class.... gave us a free media guide lol

Today was Spurrier's Media Golf outing, which is one of the things that tells me Football season is near....a lot of the coaches are being intereviewed on 107.5...also Lorenzo Ward hit a hole in one...

I think Brad Lawing may be the best pure football coach on our staff. He's made an incredible difference in this program. I think the improvement on the d-line is one of the main differences between 7-8 wins and 10-11 wins.

I like how he claims Clowney has a high football IQ....a few media bloggers were implying with Clowney's struggles mid-season to learn his assignments, and how he often "freelanced" on the field, that he might have issues at USC learning the entire playbook and becoming an every-down player on defense. Sounds like Coach Lawing doesn't think that will be an issue at all....

Our DL talent and depth have been improving by leaps and bounds under Spurrier and Lawing. Long gone are the seasons when our defense would produce only 50 tackles for loss and 12-15 QB sacks AS A TEAM, like they did in the early to mid 2000s. Now we're seeing upwards of 100 TFL and 40+ sacks per season. It's a huge improvement.....
