The Premier Girls Fastpitch tournament, which takes place in California, is the last big tournament of the summer . Since they have a web site that enables you to get stats for any player participating, I decided to check on some of our recruits . Kaylea Snaer of Rowland, California is a 2013 commit . A high school catcher, she plays first base and bats cleanup for the Southern Cal Athletics who won the tournament championship today . In 13 total games she hit .311 with 7 home runs . Her 6 home runs in bracket play was the most of any player in the tourney .
Ironically, the Athletics only loss came to a pitcher from the state of South Carolina . Team North Florida, led by Daniel High School pitcher Carly Hoover, knocked the A's into the loser's bracket on Thursday night . Hoover is the daughter of Clemson volleyball coach Jolene Hoover and is a Stanford commit . The A's had 11 hits in the game (including a solo home run by Snaer) but TNF won 4-3 . Hoover wound up losing on Friday to the eventual runner-up Worth Firecrackers . Three in-state USC signees for 2012 also played in the tournament . Ansley Ard from Wilson Hall high is an outfielder for the Southern Force , a team with players from all over the southeast . In 10 total games Ard hit .320 with 2 home runs . The Carolina Elite, with USC commits Alaynie Page of Boiling Springs and Jordan Bizzell of Hartsville played . Page is an outfielder, while Bizzell played first base, third base and catcher at various times . The stats only show the Elite with two pool play games (most teams had three) and they went 0-2 in the tournament for a total of four games . Page went 4-for-13 with a home run, and Bizzell was 2-for-8 . |

My daughter played with Carly on the Carolina Wildfire a couple of years ago and both of them pretty much carried them. Pitching (only two they had) and hitting. She played for the Carolina Elite 16U last summer and they finished 9th out of 103 teams ASA national tourney in Texas. They beat teams from California, Texas, Arizona and Tennessee plus others. She's taking this summer off but is going to play next year. She had to recharge her batteries but the coach told her that her spot was waiting on her. Carly is a very good player.

Alaynie is a great outfielder. She can track down balls, reads the ball well off the bat so she gets that little extra step outfielders need. Hits very well too. Our softball program is coming back.

I can't agree more Rebel4ever. With our new state of the art stadium, a young nucleus of talent and a solid coaching staff, our team will start contending in the SEC in a few years until then though the fun part will be seeing it happen and develop.

It's exciting to see where this team is headed from where they were two years ago

I know lil. My daughter graduates in 2015 and I'm hoping a Gamecock offer comes and be sign, sealed and delivered by then but it's her decision to where she feels the most comfortable. Coaches will be able to contact her next season. She's too young right now but a few have already asked when she will be of age for them to contact her. Showcase tournaments are awesome!

Is your daughter that good? (I ask not to sound like an ass, but because I'm genuinely interested)

Good to see there is some interest . Once I figured out how to navigate that web site, it really didn't take that long to look up the players .
