I can only guess that Clowney seemed uninterested probably because it didn't want to risk injury, or he knows that's it's just practice and not a real game, so no need to go into full beast mode. He was just chilling.

Well as long as he puts forth the effort on the field come gameday, I wouldn't care if he was just standing by the cooler sipping Gatorade, looking cool while everyone else practices

I heard he took more than his fair share of plays off during the season too. Man I hope he puts in all his effort. And hasn't grown content.

On JC's effort, the problem you have is how it will effect others on the field especially the freshmen!

Technically I haven't heard any coach comment that Clowney's effort wasn't good, or that he was lazy. There is no contact in practice for a DE... and when he can't hit a QB, I doubt he will go full speed on anything but drills.

For a guy like clowney, he likes to go hard, 100% each play as evidenced by the start of fall practice last year where coaches wanted him to go at a slower pace. Considering they aren't in pads and are just going thru the motions I can see how his body language would come off as uninterested. Id be more concerned if he's slacking once theyre

Do some of these people actually think Lawing is going to put up with a half hearted effort.
My guess is they told him to shut it down because they can't get off any passes if he's in the backfield every time.

I'd prefer to see him helping other players, if possible, and being more involved instead of off to the side looking cool. I want to see good character on and off the field.

I was there fri night and the D line was doing the dummy drills right where the ropes are and the crowd. Clowney was the one doing it perfectly and pounding the dummy. Lawing told one of the freshman, I think Deon Green, who was having a little trouble with it, to watch Clowney. I saw all effort from JC the whole practice.
