Default Hardest Stadiums To Win In

"14. South Carolina
Even when the Gamecocks weren’t very good, Williams-Brice Stadium was a hornet’s nest for visiting teams; that’s the sign of a home-field advantage that transcends the product on the field. This venue is downright electric on game day, producing enough energy to light up the city of Columbia. The scene in the stands is revelatory, with jacked-up fans waving their “Cocky Clothes” from the opening kickoff to the final whistle. Since 2005, South Carolina has knocked off six ranked teams at home, but only two away from home."

A pretty good assessment and he has us just ahead of Clem's son.

I'd put us in the top 10. I can't agree with any ACC field being hard to play at based solely on the lack of top notch teams that regularly visits them.

Win a few more big games at home, we could make the case for a top-10 ranking.

Unless Florida was ranked in 2005, I can't think of anymore.

Road wins would be Tennessee in 2005 and Florida in 2010.

I'm pretty sure that Florida was ranked in the lower 20s when we played them in 2005.

Florida was ranked #12 when South Carolina defeated them 30-22 in 2005.

Florida was 7-2, ranked #12, and with a win would have won the SEC East and gone to the SEC Championship Game. That was one of two games South Carolina denied Florida the SEC East and a trip to Atlanta. What's interesting is in the three matchups in the Spurrier Era that South Carolina needed a win against Florida to win or stay alive in the Eastern Division race, South Carolina won. In 2010 they played directly for the championship, and in 2005 and 2011 South Carolina needed Auburn or Kentucky to beat Georgia, but it didn't happen.

Sad we have fallen off a list like this...I do agree though.

Our home field advantage has been piss poor the past 5 or so years.

Hell we lost to Wyoming there!

Thanks for the clarification.

In 2005, after beating Florida, South Carolina needed both Auburn and Kentucky to beat Georgia in order to win the SEC East and go to Atlanta. Auburn got it done, but Kentucky at no surprise didn't.

In 2011, after beating Florida, South Carolina needed either Auburn or Kentucky to beat Georgia in order to win the SEC East and go to Atlanta. Neither were able to get it done.
