Was watching some videos of this kid & I just don't see how we can red shirt this guy! We have so many quality RBs...it's gonna be a tough job deciding the order of the depth chart for these guys...and where to put this monster in at...

Sure we can play him...but unless he can play as good or better than the 3 experience guys ahead of him, he'll have to wait in line. He'll have to prove it on the field...the creme rises to the top.

Hopefully we'll have the pecking order sorted out by the time we head into the teeth of that brutal SEC stretch.

I don't think he redshirts. If our WRs end up being weak, we are gonna need as many quality backs as possible. Also, who knows how much playing time Marcus will get when the season starts too.

So play him this year, when we have 4 veryyy capable backs. Or redshirt him let him get bigger and stronger and have 4 years and also a year to learn the Playbooks better. Seems like I'd go the Redshirt route myself.

I dont think our WR's will be as weak as some think. Positions farther away from the football (WR,CB,S), are the easiest positions for incoming freshman to have immediate success. Everything I have seen and read is that the group of WR's we have, have been showing out in preseason practice, including incoming freshman. I think Lattimore will get less carries, but lattimore and shaw have only played one full game together in their careers at USC. Another point to make is that we will be utilizing more 2-back sets (which will increase the chances of davis seeing playing time) and with shaw's ability to run will give us 3 rb's on the field at the same time. We also have a very deep pool of TE's which will be security blankets for shaw in the passing game and provide downfield blocking for our running game if the wr's don't pan out this season.

Honestly I doubt he doesn't red shirt. We have such a good stable of backs, unless the just all go stale, I'm not sure why we would play him, and burn the shirt. We and he have more to gain by him waiting. There is the possibility that next year he could be the feature back.

I agree with your points, but Mike is super strong already for a RB his age. Seriously, it is amazing how strong his legs are, and I can see him easily being one of the strongest RBs in the nation by the time he is an upperclassman. He could be useful on special teams like Brandon Wilds was for us early last year. As for as offensive snaps, I don't see how many he can get with guys like Brandon, Lattimore, Miles, and Carson ahead of him at the moment.

My guess is that he does redshirt because of our depth at RB. Also, I think it might be telling that he does RS because the walk-on RB is getting more snaps than him in practice the past couple of days. However, I could be completely wrong with that logic.

Latti should make a run at the Heisman but you can go ahead and mark it down...we will win our first SEC title on Mike Davis's shoulders in the next two to three years

Lord not another "Wildcat" plan. What a waste of a play. That play doesn't fool anybody anymore, as it is no longer a novelty or a surprise. Waste a redshirt year so he could run a play that might gain 2 yards on a good day.

It all depends on how quickly he picks everything up. If he can pick it up rather quickly then he will see the field, because him and Latt are the most talented backs on the team.

I think we should play him because he can be very valuable to our team. Just think, when we're ahead in the 2nd half and the other defense is tired a fresh mike davis would be tough to bring down.

Doubtful, and its really unlikely that he would redshirt and stay 4 years after that like others have suggested.

I agree. When Arkansas was running it and the Dolphins ran it, it was so new and rare that it was hard to defend the misdirection but it's run it's course and there's only so much you can do out of it. The QB doesn't scare anybody when he's split out so that limits you. Im just not a big fan of it.

At this point, Mike's running ability is terriffic, but like most young backs, it's his blocking skills that need improvement....picking up blitzing LB.....but hopefully he will learn that fairly quickly.....Shon has some blocking issues as well. I'm not sure it's so much blocking skills, as it is more about schemes.

We Will have Multiple 2 back sets and a lot of read-option. he will find his spot. All of our guys are d1 started and all have their specialty, Latti is just the all around best. i think davis will be set up with Wilds to compliment each other.

No way you redshirt him. Hell play special teams at the least. But he's not going to be here 5 years, so why waste this year?

You don't redshirt top shelf talent, even if there's players ahead of him.

We will win our first SEC with Latti and Connor. We will get there this year for sure (seccg) and i think we can beat BAMA(i'm not convinced it will happen for LSU). things are falling in place inside and outside the program.

Wilds can't block worth a dang either.

If that's the case we only have two dependable backs in Kenny and Marcus.
