Quite honestly, I don't know any more. I saw the worst call EVER in the Notre Dame game yesterday which helped them come back.
On 4th and 4, this play was called pass interference with Notre Dame trailing 20-6 in the 4th quarter. Please explain to me how this is pass interference??? If that wasn't bad enough, Nebraska trailed by 3 with 17 seconds left against Michigan St. This was 3rd down when this play was called pass interference. ![]() Maybe this one was better than the ND one but he didn't hold or grab the guy. Defensive player has every right to make a play on the ball. This was not PI. Nebraska gets 1st and goal and scores a TD with 6 secs left to win as a result of this. Officials are costing teams games now. This has moved far much into the offensive player's favor. These are two horrible calls.

Fact: Every college Ref has watched, and loves the movie Rudy.
as far as the second one I don't think either team has a movie about an athlete with a lot of heart that beats the odds.

idk what you saw but the DBs arm was completely blocking the neb rec from moving his arm up and making the catch. it was PI for sure. ND game? not so much

he was making a play for the ball BUT that came at expense of completely taking the receivers arm out of the play. you cant do that

The Pitt PI was called for what happened before your video clip. The defender extends his arm holding the ND WR away and incidentally hit feet causing the WR to not be able to stop and go up for the ball. That's why in the video it looks like he is calapsing to the ground rather than going up. Do I think it was a good call? No. But anytime a DB extends his arm into the WR they get called for it. It's unfair but that's the stupid way the refs call it now.
The worse call is the whole BS about calling guys who don't touch the WR but since didn't look back they call it. Or allowing a DB to mug the WR as long as be does while looking back at the ball. I also hate that the WR can shove the DB in the back everytime and get away with it.

As long as he's not physically holding the WR's arm to keep him from lifting it then it's all good. Both of those were HORRIBLE calls. |

I have noticed that the calls are starting to look like basketball of the 70's and 80's...officials can completely change the game at any time they want..not conspiracy or saying that they are doing it intentionally but that is the result of the way they don't call holding, Pass Interference, centers moving the ball and their head, pick plays, and the list goes on and on. Most everyone agrees that holding could potentially be called on most every play on most every team and it be justifiable. The fact that they don't call it consistently has changed the game for the worse, because when they do enforce it it looks intentional. The same applies for intentional grounding, roughing the passer, helmet to helmet, chop block, receivers pushing off, etc. It is a very hard job making the call on the fly but inconsistency has made it hard on the fans of college football. fwiw

Contact is NOT pass inteference! This is football. The defender has every right to the ball as the receiver. There are times an offensive guy goes for the ball and keeps a defender from making a play. Is that PI? No. PI needs to be a fair penalty - not one that favors the offense. This was not PI.

In the Pitt/ND game the Pitt guy was mauled in the end zone on the first play of OT and didn't get the call.

Why replay is needed for penalties also. The refs are human it's a handful of refs watching 22 players on the field at once. These would be reviewed and called back as an incomplete pass for ND and NU.

The refs don't see plays. They guess half the time because they worry if they don't make calls people will realize they didn't see squat.

Notre Dame has the golden horseshoe wedged deep up their rusty sheriff's star, they should have lost to Pitt.

I think PI is called way too liberally these days. Just my opinion. And I don't see PI on either of those plays.

Perfect example was the "helmet to helmet" call in the Steeler game yesterday, the ref heard the hit saw Cruz in a heap on the ground, saw who hit him, and threw a flag based on reputation. They later announced he was out due to a rib injury, how are your ribs near your head?
