This week's toast goes to someone that may not have blew up the stat chart, but he did all of the little things to help the team get the victory.
THIS WEEK'S CACK'S TOAST OF THE GAME GOES TO ... KENNY MILES ![]() Kenny Miles stepped up and was a leader Saturday on the field. He didn't finish with 100yds rushing. He didn't finish with any TDs, but he did all of the little things, the team first me second things, to help get the victory. If anyone needs proof of what I'm talking about. Go look at Shaw's TD run in the first half. He decides to take off and Kenny is about to break out in front of him. At the last second Arky has a LB crash in that would have NAILED Shaw with an untouched hit. Kenny picked it up and jumped backwards to pick up the block that freed Shaw to take it to the house. THAT kind of play deserves some praise. HONORABLE MENTIONS: Jadaveon Clowney - Clowney being Clowney. He's a beast, we all know this by now. Bruce Ellington - It's obvious that we're trying to get Bruce more involved in the Offense. The past 2 games he's gotten more and more looks and he's made the play when the ball has come to him. DJ Swearinger - I know a lot are going to complain and say that Swag should have won it, but for every great play that he made. He also made some bad decisions that could have cost us. First he has the horse collar flag, then the PF for the hit (I KNOW I KNOW IT WAS A CRAPPY AND WRONG CALL, BUT IT WAS STILL A FLAG), and then the PF for throwing the ball into the crowd. With our ST if Yates wouldn't have kicked a BOMB and they returned it to our side or even to the house. That penalty would have cost her. With all that said ... Swag is a BALL HAWKING BEAST. Adam Yates - Dude had some hellacious kickoffs. Hate that he wasn't able to squeeze that last FG in, but the kickoffs alone deserver some recognition. Shaq Wilson - It just seemed like he was around every single play. He may not have gotten the tackle or the pick or the batted ball, but he was right there in on everything. EVERYONE RAISE YOUR GLASS FOR KENNY MILES ![]() Arky - Kenny Miles Tenn - Marcus Lattimore Florida - Jadaveon Clowney LSU - UGA - Damiere Byrd Kentucky - The Whole Team Mizzou - Ace Sanders UAB - Marcus Lattimore/Jadaveon Clowney ECU - Dylan Thompson Vandy - Connor Shaw |

Thank you Cack for posting your toast of the game every week. I and probably everyone else on here enjoys reading them.
My MVP for the game is DJ. Sure he had the penalty flag for throwing the ball into the crowd, but I can live with that. If it was a close game I would have been upset, but we had the game in the bag at that point. The penalty flag for the hit was a horrible call. He contacted the guy with his shoulder, and his head was clearly leaning away from contact. I am surprised another ref didn't correct that call. And you cannot fault a guy for getting a flag on a great hit when it was clean. What was awesome was that the very next play was the pick six. I like your honorable mention list a lot. Shaq played extremely well, and Clowney would have had five sacks if he wasn't getting tackled by the offensive line. Special teams was great as a whole, heck even our punting was excellent. And I am so glad Bruce is in a comfort zone now. Pretty proud of our running game. The o-line was opening big holes for Kenny and Mike to run through.

can't fault swag for the hit, or throwing the ball into the stands. even the horse collar was bogus. hate to be that guy, but i think there are plenty of more deserving players than kenny. miles played well, but even davis out-gained him. so while i don't want to take anything away from miles efforts, clowney having to deal with the lack of holding calls, shaw for doing an excellent job of creating when the ol allowed defenders in the backfield all day long and any of the te's could have been there as well.
lastly, how could you not have hull in the honorable mention category? this kid kicked several 50+ yarder's, and was consistently flipping the field all day long. he has improved tremendously. still nice read!

I want to toast the WHOLE team because they beat Arkansas. A team that has not been better than us, just played better than us. This is the first win in 4 tries. Congrats Gamecocks.

Kenny Miles really played with intensity on Saturday. He made some impactful plays and in timely situations.

The block by Miles that you are referring to was a thing of beauty. I replayed it over and over, asking myself... "how many elite backs would ever make that block?" The answer? None. Not because they'd avoid the contact, but rather because it took some real smarts and quick reactions and an "I'm going to protect my quaterback with my life if that's what it takes" mentality.
One of the best plays I have EVER seen. My favorite books on football have always been Lombardi's complete leatherbound set. That play by Kenny deserves to be in that treatise on blocking and the other fundamentals. Kenny, we love you, man!

don't get your affection for Shaq on Sat. "always around the ball" doesn't mean a damn thing, especially for a LB. Thought the LBs played really bad, especially Shaq.
good find on Kenny. we sure need him to block because we will be primarily a passing team until 2013. Bruce has become clearly the best WR on the team. How about that snag by Cunningham? |

Miles was just a ankle tackle away from breaking 2 or 3 long runs.
Davis looked good too. Our running game looks ready to unload on clemson. |

I can't wait to see Davis go off on Clemson and then walk over to the sideline and say "am I good enough now?"
