Let me preface this by saying I realize I am not a coaching legend like Steve Spurrier so please spare me the posts reminding me of that. This is America and I can express disagreement with something.
For the life of me I cannot figure out why SOS decided to start Shaw today. He's obviously nursing a bad foot and we have Clemson next week. Did he think that DT couldn't get it done? He got it done vs better opponents than Wofford earlier in the year. I see no reason not to have confidence in him. If anyone can explain to me why SOS found it necessary to start Shaw today I am all ears, or eyes rather. |

My guess would be that SOS and Shaw didn't think the inkury was worth a week's rest and instead thought that they would have a chance to work on some things in what was supposed to be a tune up/scrimmage for Clemson.
We all expected limited work for our starters today and when it did not pan out that way, Connor stayed in to work through some issues. Besides, as much as I love DT, I don't know if he would have faired better behind the line for much of this game, those defensive linemen ran around our line with little effort on some of those plays in the 1st and 2nd quarter. Connor Shaw is our starting quarterback and I have no issue with him starting this game even with the injury. I wouldn't want to cheat him out of a start if he feels ready and has practiced most of the week.

No, it's because Shaw's dad and Spurrier are friends maybe?

I thought coach said he wasnt going to pull shaw anymore this year. I was hoping to rest shaw but thought this would be the reason for not.

If Shaw was not in there maybe we don't win the game. His legs got us out of trouble at least 8-10 times today. None of our other guys could have done that. DT may be a better passer to some, but the fact is our receivers were almost never open so it doesn't matter who was throwing it.

There was a running back here before Lattimore that would not see the field because of a certain player who I won't mention and it was due to favoritism. In fact it had an effect on the team off the field at the time.

Typically a player starts because they've earned it. Connor Shaw is 2 weeks removed from being the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
