Preseason expectations for next year?

I know we still have a bowl game this season, and am not discounting the rest of the season. Just wanted to see what everyone thinks the outlook on our team will be next year. With our favorable schedule, I feel we should be in the top 10, and even the top 5 next season. Almost all of our offensive weapons are returning, and one of the most dominant defensive players, Clowney is returning. We lose some on defense, but I feel this will be a strong, strong team, and expectations will be off the charts. What do you all think? Talk of a national title, BCS game, or a season similar to this one?

same as going into this year. challenge for the sec title. we'll need a lot of first time contributors on defense, but we still should be very good up front. asssuming nobody leaves early, the secondary will be just about finding dj's replacement and building quality depth.

With this schedule, anything less than the SECCG will be a disappointment. I wasn't expecting it this year because of the schedule. I predicted 10-2 for the year during August camp. We should not be worse than 11-1 next year. The key will be LB replacement but we have some great young talent there.

Losing Taylor, Jerideau, DJ, Holloman, Damario, Akeem on Defense. But we have some pretty good LB's and I think Diggs will take over Spur next year. I think the freshman from Charlotte will come in and play. And we'll have Rico back and Moody. Defiantly going to miss DJ with those hard hits and all that ENERGY, he will have a good career in the NFL.

We should get to the SECCG with our schedule. We don't play the gumps or the bayou tigers.

The dawgs will lose 80% of their defense, tennessee is still in shambles and it will take more than a year to rebuild, florida is really good, but we have a bye week before them and it in Columbia.

Winning the East should be quite possible, if we find some players to step up at LB and DB.

We lost more talent last year and everything was fine on the D this year. We have talented kids who were redshirted that will really surprise you. We just didn't need them to play on D. We were full with talent. The DEs will be great. We have plenty of talent to replace Jerideau, in fact a lot of those guys played this year. LB is the biggest area of concern but with an experienced DL and DBs, they will cover for the LBs. Not worried about the D or the O.

Also lose our starting LBs Wilson and Bowens and Quin Smith in the 2 deep. We lose alot off of D but we lost alot last year and ended up ok. Alot will depend on how Lewis, Cooper, and TJ Holloman play at LB and how Diggs does at Spur.

Sutton, English, and Hill should step up fine in the place of Taylor. Surratt, Dixon and Dukes will fill in for Byron. Marcus will have to step up in place of DJ at S.

Another question on D is will Hampton go pro or not. Word is that he is gone.

On offense we shouldn't skip a beat from where we are now. No Lattimore and we only lose Johnson on the OL. Losing the experience and talent of Cunningham at TE, but we have very good players there in Busta, Rainey, Adams, and Owens.

Really? Vic is thinking of going pro? Not a smart move on his behalf. But I'm hoping Larenz comes in and can contribute, along with Diggs doing a good job in the Spur. I think we have some good LB's that will fill in nicely. I also think Alfy Hill and English will fill in for Taylor very well.

DE: Clowney, Sutton, English, Hill * This will be a great pass rushing package with all 4 on the field.

DT: Quarles, Surratt, Dixon Jr, Dukes, Green, Dixon (I believe the plan is to grow him in to a DT now)

Spur: Diggs, Golightly
LB: Cooper, Lewis, Holloman......Then any true frosh. This is by far the biggest question mark on the entire team. Hopefully these 3 have a really big spring.

CB: Hampton, Legree, Christian, Elder, McWilliams
S: Williams, Marcus, Gurley, Moody, Fleetwood


Overall we should be stout on the DL and pretty solid in the secondary. How good of play we get from our LBs is anyone's guess at this moment.

Finally a favorable schedule.

The game at Georgia will be more than tough and Florida at home will be a slugfest. Mississippi state can give us a fight as well and dont forget about the trips to missouri ans arkansas. Clemson will be just as good if not better next year as well so anywhere from 9-3 to 12-0. Hopefully with all we lose on defense they won't fall off to much. Offensively we'll be tough for everybody assuming the line improves like they should.

Expectations will be very high, but they should be given the last 3 years.
