The Ted Hendricks Foundation is proud to announce the winner of the 2012 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award. In a season that has seen much drama and suspense among the leaders in the NCAA rankings, a rare occurrence has come to pass in the ranks of the defensive end. In fact, this is a first-time occurrence! A sophomore has won the award for the nation's top defensive end.

My guess is that if Manziel wins the Heisman and Te'o gets a very close second then Clowney has set himself up to be the defensive player in the mix next year if he has another year like this and we win the big games.

I don't think the staff actually had to do too much with Clowney except putting him on the field.

If I were going to look at development, Ingram should be the poster child.

Are you serious? That sounds like a tater post.. JD even said last year he was very raw and had no idea what he was doing out there. The coaches taught him better technique and how to recognize plays pre snap and during the play.

Many stud 5 star elite talent recruits get to a school and the coaches let
them do whatever and do not "push" them.. Our coaches effectively pushed JD and have so far fulfilled that enormous talent of his.

Very head scratching post, especially one by a Gamecock fan... yes he is more talented than maybe anyone ever, but talent itself does not win you awards and games.. If that were the case, USCw and Texas would be the best teams in the land, and Clemsux would pummel us.
