You don't make any sense....are you saying the character of the SEC West today is different than the SEC West pre-2008? What does his HC record at Southern Miss have to do with his time as DC at USC, or before at other SEC schools, or in the future with SEC schools? And how would this "lacking" while at USC translate to other gigs at other schools, much less other SEC schools?

Yes, it definitely is different.

I'm saying he may not be as good of a coach anymore.. everyone has to retire at some point.. and if his defense was lacking at USC (lack of consistent pass rush, so so run defense), how will it do against LSU and Bama every year?

i think a lot of the complaints about him are nitpicking. sure he'll play conservative, but he'll likely build a top 20 or 30 defense. cant do any worse than what bvg did this year.

His buyout was not contingent on him not taking another job. In other words he will get his full buy out from USM.
