I don't think I've ever witnessed one player help turn the direction of a program around and have such a profound effect on the attitudes and feelings of people as Marcus Lattimore has while only playing the equivalent of two full years. He is truly an amazing individual and will forever be in the hearts and minds of not only Gamecocks, but anyone who has ever seen the way he conducts himself in all aspects of his life. Words cannot adequately express how much I and every other Gamecock appreciate what this incredible young man has meant to our football program and university, and he is destined for greatness no matter where life takes him, and his next stop is in the NFL to begin what will likely become a career that will ultimately lead Marcus to championships and the hall of fame. Congratulations, Marcus. Know that I and countless others will always be a fan of the magnificent player and man you are.

It's pretty hard to see him go. I've never met him, but I feel like he's a family member leaving home. Usually i'm upset when a player leaves early(out of selfishness on my part) but i'm really happy to see Marcus pursue his dream. He's done more for this school than words can express and I CAN'T wait to see what he does, and where he goes in the NFL. Good luck Marcus, God bless, stay humble and stay hungry.

He really is an incredible guy and athlete. There are very few people who have elite talent and match it with elite personality and Marcus Lattimore is one of those people.
He's a legend here already.. can't wait to see what he does with his future whether it's football or something else.

Sentimentality aside....when Marcus signed I feel it truly signaled a turning point in South Carolina football and attitude. It began with with 2007 class but I think in a few decades we will be looking at the program as before and after Marcus.

If it was up to me there would be a life size bronze statue of the guy outside of Williams-Brice, he stood for everything good about college football.
I said in a thread a while back that Munnerlyn was my favorite gamecock. Well he's a close 2nd now. |
