I think he's lucky to get a HC gig this soon. I thought he would have to go the assistant route for a few years.

Maybe he can keep it going at La Tech and bounce back to another job.

I must be missing something. He moved to a top 25 team from a non top 25 team. LaTech was pretty darn good this past year i think maybe the last two years. If he's got some kids coming back on that roster then I think he can make a statement to some of the other bigtime programs

Yeah I just dont think he would be as noticable at USF with all the Florida school to compete with recruiting. In Louisiana he only has one school to compete with for in state recruits. Seems like a win to me especially as crappy as Sfla is

USF was actually heading up, competing for their conference and going to bowls before Skip got there.

You coach at FIU, FAU, Central Florida, or South Florida and see how well you compete with the other instate schools. That place is a death trap. They are right beside Miami and arent going to ever land someone that has an offer from the U (Even in trouble Miami), Florida, or FSU. He proved he can coach at ECU. I read a comment from the recruiting coordinator at FIU and he was talking about how crazy it is to have to recruit out of state when you are right smack in the state of Florida.

USF is in Tampa which is nowhere near Miami. If they NEVER get a recruit that is offered by any of the big three, there are STILL twice as many D1 recruits in the state of FL leftover than in the whole state of LA.

And nobody there expects them to beat the big three schools in FL. But they do expect them to be competitive in the Big East. Particularly in its current state.

I hope Skip does well wherever he is, but he did a very poor job at USF. La Tech is definitely a step dow from USF.
