With the stephen garcia question on wether he was contacted or is welcome at practice. i am not sure why they reacted that way..made it look real weird.

I agree with all of you. my response would have just been "not that i am aware". g.a. looked really pained by the question and mumbled a remark and spurrier just flubbed it..

the reporter was definetely an ass with the question, but it looked like he scored a win with those responses. personally, i dont think that is a hard question to deflect.

Thought it was kind of a funny question. The reporter sounded really serious when he asked it though. Neither Spurrier nor GA handled it well, which is why we are still talking about it.

Garcia is not the devil. In spite of his failings and the haters he did a lot for the team and could have been one of the best QBs we've ever had with a little guidance and self discipline. They could have said something nice about him and moved on to the next question.

With a little guidance???? They brought in Mangus to practically babysit him and he still wouldn't do what the coaches asked. Let's face it, he refused to do what the coaches asked and he was given tons of chances. He almost drove spurrier out of coaching, that's how frustrated he was with garcia. He did some good things but he only achieved about 40% of what his talent was capable of. And that's what drives me crazy. The what could have been if he had buckled down and took it serious.

Because both of them know he got the shaft by the former AD. They like him, but he is viewed by some of the fans and all of the media as a pariah and person to exploit for a sensational news story.

... and its his hometown and homefield (high school) and he's a Carolina alum and he's beaten clempson twice and he had the arm to make Alshon great. He mighta been a handful but I never heard an interview that he wasn't humble and proud to be a Gamecock. He was half a season from a bunch of Carolina records.

do what the coaches ask ? once, he was asked to tuck it and run, then tuck it and slide but not too early (?) then throw it away, then hang in the pocket, and all this with the Carolina offensive line. I will admit it though, at the end, he didn't know which way to turn.

and yes, Ima Garcia fan and still root for him.

That was without a doubt the worst question that has ever been asked in an interview. I wish Spurrier would have given that the Morris treatment.

I think what he was referring to was the request to stop drinking and bringing negative attention to the program.

Do we normally contact former players in areas that we play bowls in and ask them to come out? Seems like our time could be better suited recruiting and such...but that's just me.

Just watched the Mangus video and he didn't squirm at all. He said he didn't talk to him and that was it. Spurrier on the other hand did.
