I saw this with my fiance. While I dont like musicals much, this was very well done. It was a little too long though.

Movie will make a lot if money bc there is a ton of sentimentality attached to it. However that does not make it a good film. Russell Crowe is supposed to be terrible and it's a bunch of actors emoting while they sing with super close up shots.

Lump this dud in with Lincoln and The Master as movies that do not live up to the hype. (Even though someone will tell you that all 3 are good films - they are not)

I loved it, but then I love Broadway musicals. I thought it was better than Wicked or Phantom of the Opera.

Ann Hathaway deserves an Oscar, and I never knew that Hugh Jackman had such a broad range of talent.

I had read the book, of course, so I knew what was going on.

My husband refused to go, which was good. He would have hated it.

The audience applauded after it was over. Because it was so good - not because they were glad it finally ended.

Acting was good. Story was weak. Same for The Master. However, The Master went nowhere. Lincoln made sense, it was just poorly told. The opening scene alone should discredit Lincoln for any award consideration for best picture. DDL was good, film - not do much.

Really hoping that Zero Dark Thirty blows my doors off bc this has been a weak yr for critical praised films.

I usually like to wait for hype to die down before I go see a movie, and this movie is full of hype.

I would like to read the novel one day, but I don't know when I would have time to sit down a read a 1,500 page novel.

This cracks me up. They will be up for award consideration, have been extremely well reviewed and have had strong performances, but ya, they are terrible.

Well she has about 20min of screen time in the whole film, so I wouldn't use that as my reason for not seeing the movie.

I thought it was excellent and I've seen it on stage as well.

Yeah, she's dead about 40 minutes into the film.
