We have no running backs that have done anything this year. Most of us never want to see Denard Robinson throw the ball ever again. We want Robinson as a running back and wide receiver. Our freshman tight end is very big and very good and if our quarterback Gardner gets some time, you might see that combination work very well and it might get you upset. Our receivers are average. Our defense, however, is a good front 7 with 2nd stringers that rotate in regularly. We have had some injuries in the secondary and that is the weakness on the defense.
And again, we are not Big Blue but the Maize and Blue. Go Blue! |

Fill us in on your OL. Are they the issue with the running game?

The O-Line is average but Lewan is good. I'd say the running game problem is 50-50 between having an average O-Line and average running backs. We have not had anybody like Mike Hart, Chris Perry, or Anthony Thomas "The A-Train" since Mike Hart graduated 5 years ago. But we are recruiting for the typical Michigan pro-style offensive line and you should see our offense be the typical offense like when Tom Brady and Brian Griese were quarterback.

Until DickRod showed up, every quarterback that ever started a game at Michigan going back to the mid 80s with Jim Harbaugh, eventually also started a game at quarterback for an NFL team. That string got broken when Rich Rodriguez came to town. And its good we got rid of him - he never really felt like a Michigan coach.

![]() I can confirm (no doubt) that SOS see's something in Michigan's secondary which he will "attempt" to exploit........ And I would NEVER be capable of standing in front of Carson, Davis & Miles and calling them "average"....... And as for Michigan wanting to throw to the TE...... it better be a "quick" throw! ![]()

Tight ends don't do much against us. And we have gone against some good ones the last couple of years (Charles,Allen,etc.).
Probably because of our 4-2-5 scheme. It's tough for them to get the mismatches on linebackers. Posted from Cockytalk.com App for Android

The only offenses that shocked us this year were Florida* (will explain asterisks) and Tennessee this year. Tennessee just had a great combo and exploited our weakness in the secondary but we knew this was going to be an issue at the beginning of the year and we are lucky they are the only team that did this to us this year. Florida was just a disaster in which we gave them a VERY short field on like 3 straight possessions we just flat out beat ourselves in that game and Florida did to us what we did to UGA.
Now I say this only because I am sorry but Michigan does not scare me one bit on Offense and the only way they are going to score more then us is if our Offense just flat out stinks! If we lay an egg like we almost did against Woffard or Vandy or even just fall apart like we did against LSU late then and only then will Michigan have a chance to beat us. No way our Defense lets them outscore us, they are just to good......If our offense does our D no favors and turns the ball over alot then Michigan has a shot.

The big guys need to contain Robinson...the only way they win is with him running outside

Also I just think Michigan's Offense is more spotty then ours......Only 14 pts against Bama, 6 vs Notre Dame, 12 vs Sparty, 9 vs Nebraska, and 21 vs Ohio.
You look at our offense and we had a bad game vs Vandy with 17, 21 vs LSU, and 11 vs Florida. We had 3 bad games this year on offense. And I wouldnt even call the LSU game a bad offensive game the whole game just in the second half. There is no denying what both teams do on defense, I just think that we have faced better D's this year than Michigan and overall played more consistent on both sides of the ball. No doubt that Michigan lost to 4 quality teams but the two we lost two could hang with any of the 4 and most likely beat 3 out of the 4 they lost to.

A mobile QB does not scare me as much as it use to. And with this team I am much more scared by a QB with a good corp of WR's that he can throw to then one that can run. Eventually he is gonna get hit and eventually he will tire. But Whammy is awesome on making 2nd half adjustments and with this D-line we have now its not as scary as it use to be.

I would expect you to say that Michigan's offense does not scare you because it shouldn't. BUT if Devin Gardner relaxes at QB AND they have developed some plays to get Denard Robinson the ball in open space, he can take it all the way anytime. Some of our receivers are OK and they will throw to them, but I think a key for Michigan on offense is how to get Denard Robinson the ball and whether we can get the tight end involved. If neither of those two things happen, we just don't have any other wow-type skill position players, although Devin Gardner does remind me a little bit of Ohio's Terrelle Pryor in that he seems like he is running slowly but actually he is running fast.
As for defense, Greg Mattison starts every game with the vanilla defense with not many blitzes. If that works, he stays with it. If not (and usually it is two series to rpove whether the vanilla defense works), he will then alter his defense until something works. And typically, Mattison and his crew have done a very good job making defensive adjustments at halftime. |

In response to the 6 points against ND and the 9 against Nebraska, Denard Robinson threw 4 consecutive interceptions on 4 consecutive throwing attempts. We have been watching him for 3 years now and we never have seen any improvement in his throwing. So the ND game was all on Robinson not being an accurate thrower. In the Nebraska game, when Robinson got injured and came out of the game, we put Bellomy in at QB and not Devin Gardner. Why the coaches didn't put in Gardner had us fans angry because Bellomy completed 1 pass in his first 13 or 14 attempts and was just horrible. The red-shirt freshman was the typical deer in the headlights playing against Nebraska. Our offense with Gardner at QB is different. He generally is a much better passer than Robinson and is a mobile QB, just not quite as fast as Denard. I might be a bit too harsh about some of our receivers because some of them can make plays - Roy Roundtree comes to mind and they like to go deep with him.

If USC can get to 21 points, I believe they win (I see 31 points)...... I don't see Michigan putting 21 points on our defense! The ONLY wildcard, is of course Robinson...... but after DR gets popped a couple times by DJ Swag....... I see that threat diminishing!

Gardener is good.
He is going to be VERY good! I'd put them in the top 10 next year. Great game,
