not sure why you guys are upset about this. The momentum shift was far more significant with the hit than it would have been with a turnover on downs.

We aren't upset by it. Hell I am glad it happened. Just completely baffled at that call lol

Because it is the principle of it. Damn, what is so hard to understand about that?

We know we won. We know what happened afterwards. That doesn't change that one of the most blatant officiating calls in the history of human sports occurred.

Momentum shift I don't even buy in the first place- the shift came whenever Clowney dropped the bomb the next play. It's not like the bad call "fired up" our defense. That hit could have occurred on any of the following possessions.

Bottom line: get it right when it is obvious and no gray area exists. It wasn't a judgment call.

Clowney said the call pissed him off and he was going to get the ball back.

Oh, come on. That was a once in a lifetime hit. They call that turnover on downs correctly, that play does not happen.

My point is that a bad call isn't something that lights a fire inside of you like a big hit, turnover, or some other play.

Sure, he wanted the ball back...but he didn't foresee what was going to happen (although he can probably control the future more than most).

Bottom line is you get the call right. In hindsight, we could have scored again and put the score in place with the right call. You can turn it any way you want...but get the call right.

Once in a lifetime? It was the best hit I have ever seen but to think he couldn't do it again is ludicrous. He knocked the dogshit out of Robinson a couple series later.

This isn't The Matrix where some destiny awaits you. You take advantage of every single play you can and try to destroy the opponent.

They call it right...we drive down and score. Give you the ball back, Clowney knocks Smith into another dimension then we score again. How is that theory for you?

Are you gonna tell me that if that call was made against your team in a close bowl game, you aren't going to be mad/dismayed/disbelieving? Baloney! We don't know what would have happened if the correct call was made; it was a huge down, we get the ball, and who knows, maybe an even bigger play results. But when you get right down to it, it's the principle of the thing. Yes, it worked out and we won, but we were wronged, and we have every right to be angry about it.

It is the principle of it being such a bad, erronous call. The ref needs to be called out on this.

It could have just as easily cost us the game. Maybe next time it will and I don't want there to be a next time.

Because blatant incompetence is unacceptable? Obviously, it ended up working out for us, but it very well might not have due to that call. Just because someone succeeded despite you being an incompetent or dishonest employee, does not make it OK.

And that being a "once in a lifetime hit" that was all thanks to the blown call... lol that was probably his most explosive and exciting hit, but Clowney has made huge plays his entire career. He can blow up your offense and flip the game on any given play and it sure as hell is not going to be completely determined by what some referee does the play before. It's actually been publicized that Clowney ran a stunt to the inside and had a free run at the RB because your TE did not hear the "deuce" call that Lewan made pre-snap. So if the play can be attributed to anything, it would be the blown blocking assignment by Michigan.

Yep; being on the losing end of a bad call can crush a team's morale; it's late in a game that's been a battle the entire time, the D is past tired...I've been a Carolina fan long enough to have seen it happen in days past.

I see your point, but I don't think you give our team enough credit if you think the only reason we won was getting screwed by a bad call.

If you were mad and po-ed when you watched the horrible call, I am sure the players were at least as mad, so yes, the bad call did help rev up the "D" and Clowney.

I almost thought SOS was going to go Woody Hayes on the ref and deck him when he refused to correct his call.

We oughta do something to get this official fired. Inexcusale! Then, when he had a chance to reverse himself, he was too big of a coward to even doublecheck or get down there for a closer look.

Disgusting for someone being paid to be accurate and impartial.
