Rightfully so. It's funny that even in this with Clemson so close to the top we still edge them out, haha. In all seriousness though it's cool that the state of SC was involved in the two best bowl games of the season. 1. Outback. How insane was this game? It was the final performance in the electric career of none other than Denard Robinson, and by the end of its 60 minutes, no one other than the Wolverines diehards cared at all. Put another way: Ace Sanders returned a punt for a touchdown, and it was the fourth-most memorable play of the game. It ranked behind the most baffling call in college football's living memory, Bruce Ellington's 32-yard game-winning touchdown catch with 11 seconds to play. It also ranked behind this little Jadeveon Clowney number you may have heard about and will be hearing about until the Earth melts into the sun: All of that, in a New Year's Day Big Ten-SEC grudge match involving the winningest college football program of all time vs. Steve Spurrier, with free bloomin' onions on the line. It was as good as bowl games get. 2. Chick-fil-A. Bowls are just glorified exhibitions that don't matter and don't change anything. Which is why for four visceral quarters Clemson and LSU went after each other tooth-and-nail in a fashion entirely befitting their shared feline nickname. Which is why Clemson and Dabo Swinney celebrated Chandler Catanzaro's game-winning field goal as time expired with a zeal usually reserved for "child gets an XBox" Christmas YouTube videos. Which is why Les Miles came in for another excoriating round of vitriol for his late-game coaching decisions. Which is why Tigers fans in both the Palmetto and Pelican States are going to be talking about this one for years to come.

It was a good game, better than I expected, but also better than I wanted it to be, lol. The Clowney hit, the final TD pass, Ace's catch at the back of the end zone and the punt return for TD - all great/fantastic plays.

Four of us were at the game and both wives got up and went inside with about 2 minutes to go and watched on TV....they said their nerves couldn't take it. My nerves were shot but there was no way I wasn't watching the end of the game. I've been watching Gamecock football since 1967, and I have never seen a more exciting game that we won. In years past, we would always find a way to lose those games.......not any more.

That game was unique in this way: Michigan's offense outplayed our defense, but our offense outplayed their defense. I have never seen the quick strikes like thIs before. 3 plays in? First play after a to. the throw by Thompson at the end? It was something else

I felt it was the best bowl game too, part of me just thought it was because it was our game. Having that opinion among non Gamecocks is awesome.

That's a way of putting. A punt return for a TD will be forgotten in 5 years because of the other memorable plays. Michigan deserves a lot of credit. They were ready. Obviously had great practices. Both teams were making insane plays all game. That's how bowl games should be.

I do not remember a drive like our last one. The 11 second touchdown was a thing of beauty. We all turned to each other and said we knew we would win. I have never felt so sure before. Since we were among Michigan fans we took note of their reaction. It was total shock.

Neither team deserved to lose. Agree with one of the posters above, might be the best game I've ever been to.

I thought it was a fantastic game due to the fact that before Dylan's TD pass, I actually believed that Michigan was going to win the game. Thank you for proving me wrong Dylan and Bruce!

CFB Live today had Shaw to Ace TD pass 3rd best play of bowl season and the hit as the best play of bowl season. Amazing its been almost a week and half and people are still talking about the HIT!

This is just more proof that the BCS has failed.

I agree that is was a great game that will be talked about for years to come.
As for Clemson, they didn't win a National Championship in their bowl game but they did "cross the threshold of greatness"....or something like that! I loved his comment on the postgame cheerleading. |

watched highlights again...totally forgot about Shaw's spin out then completion to Ace for a first down....that was a huge play that got overshadowed by Clowney's hit, Bruce's catch, and Ace
