He looked pretty dang good last week. Theres always stuff to improve on, but he'll have no problem being the best lineman in college football next year. The only really bad technique I saw from him was the Clowney tackle for loss play when he turned his shoulders on CLowney's speed rush.

He did hold Clowney in check early in the game but as usual, as the game wore on, Clowney's motor kept reving and Lewan gave out. That is the difference. Clowney doesn't stop, he may take a few plays off to be stronger at the end but his motor wears down his opponents eventually. Spurrier said Clowney told him once the sun went down, he'd get his second wind. Judging by THE HIT, he did!

I saw 4 times that he grabbed Clowney's face mask and wasn't called for it. He did get called for facemasking once on a downfield block. He was grabbing Clowney by the hair on the the first drive...Clowney eventually pulled his hair back to keep it out of his way. Not to mention the holding calls that weren't called. He wasn't responsible for Clowney on "The Hit" play...that is just a screw up in planning, but not his fault. I thought he was a dirty player to have been so highly touted. In the NFL...they have people that rewatch the games during the week and will fine people for doing things like this.

I have to agree with you on this assessment. Lewan was getting help with Clowmey a lot of the game and when he wasn't, well Lewam was pulling JD's face mask.

Weird he is a top half of the 1st round.

He did a great job on Clowney most of the game. I didn't see him getting a while lot of help most of the game. He was blocking him 1 on 1 a lot

I just started another thread on this-apparently he had a long conversation with Jake Long, who did the same thing prior to the '07 season despite possibly being a top 5 pick. It certainly worked out for Long, and we're hoping it does for Lewan. Just know that by doing this, Lewan has instantly become a Michigan legend forever. Bo was famous for the sign he put up-"Those who stay, will be champions." Loyalty, and being a "Michigan Man", has extraordinary importance to those of us who are Wolverine fans-and Taylor just showed his true colors.

The stuff that he was doing was not things that would be fined.

He held clowney and pulled his face mask, if that were fineable a lot more players would be getting fined for this today.

This is beyond stupid and it has nothing to do with valuing a degree. I value education, but the guy is going to play in the NFL that will be his job.

If some fortune 500 company offered me a job making 6 figures or more as an accountant and that's what I was going to school for I would take it. He would probably be a top 5 pick certainly 1 or 2 at the position. It makes little sense as he probably already has a degree.

He should set his family and himself up for life and go to the NFL. The injures now are hard to overcome and the average NFL career is 3-5 yrs. He probably cost himself 5 million dollars by staying and at least a year off his career.

Yea it's definitely not a smart move financially. I mean you're not going to get better than top 5 potential. Like you said ab $5 mill off the top and injury risk.
