PSA for Twitter users & USC is trying to shut down fake twitter accounts.

Twitter account JadeveonClowny is not real, it is someone pretending to be him

No link, heard on the radio that the university is getting involved in shutting down fake accounts of our players. Mainly the fake Clowney one that has 50k followers while Jadeveon's real account only has 22k. I see a lot of post on other boards with links to Clowneys fake account b/c people think its actually him and whoever runs it likes to bash whoever we are playing that week. It's being said, with the Manti Te'o situation, they are trying to buckle down more on social media. Good idea IMO. Some might think twitter is silly and this is a waste of time... But social media has become huge and can't be ignored, especially when it makes one of our players look bad.

Anyways, it is a good idea. There needs to be more of an effort to validate certain accounts because of the potential backlash. However, like most things in life, there can always be backlash from validation potentially. At the end of the day, though, I think validating helps the player and the university more than leaving it as-is

Many South Carolina media guys, including Michael Haney and Scott Hood, as well as bigger name media people have been begging Twitter to validate Clowney's real Twitter account.
