Final BCS Standings

I have looked for them, but I can't find anything after the final bowl game. Do they post them, or are they left to the AP and coaches?

The BCS ends before the final game it only determines who plays after that the polls vote for a champion on their own.

The BCS standings are created for the purpose of creating BCS matchups. They never have final BCS rankings.

If you want to be a stickler, the "Final BCS Standings" are made right before bowl season, to determine bowls.

At the basketball game Saturday, Spurrier said that we finished 7th. I haven't seen that poll.

Ohio State is ahead of us in the AP.....their poll is a popularity contest.....it's not used in the BCS calculation.

The reason it's not used in the BCS calculation is because the AP disagrees with how the BCS is set up. It was the AP's decision to not be a part of the BCS, not the other way around. In fact, the AP was a part of the BCS until it asked to not be apart of the BCS in 2004.

OSU was not allowed to be voted on in the Coaches Poll. It's not like none of the coaches would have voted for them if they had the chance.

The reality is coaches don't watch many other games but their own. They also vote for their friends/conference/against enemies etc(talk about a popularity contest). But worst of all they aren't made public so there is no integrity or accountability. Many coaches don't even vote themselves they just let an assistant do it for them. Coaches have actually admitted to that.


No one is ever going to agree with each other on how the teams should be ranked. However the media has less bias than the coaches. Plus you can actually see where they vote each week. That goes a LOOONG way in providing credibility. If someone is putting Duke in the top 25 just because they used to coach there then most people would admit that's not a very good reason. If a coach is voting his team #1 and then lying about it then that hurts the credibility of that poll. If a coach can vote teams on his schedule higher because it helps with SOS or another selfish reason, then it hurts credibility. If a coach is secretly voting another team lower because he has a personal agenda against that coach then he can do that and no one will ever know. That's just totally unreliable and really pitiful that a poll can be conducted in that manner.

I agree with 75.

Coaches aren't spending time watching games across the country. Especially when they have their own game to coach/plan/scout etc that week.


The AP voters might not watch all of them but its a larger amount than the coaches.

I saw a mock one recently where they used the same formula used in the BCS poll to create a post-season standing. I only remember that Notre Dame remained #1 and I believe we were #7 or #8.

I don't think ND would remain 1. Bama ended the season as number one in the coaches and you can assume Harris poll voters would have put them the same.
They were number 3 in the computers going into the title game but you'd think with them beating number 1 (ND) and number 2 (UF) losing they would have possibly moved up in that as well

The Coaches Poll is the one technically bound by the BCS to name the National Champions the winner the the BCS National Championship Game. Therefore, in a sense, it is the final BCS poll.

I think you mean that ND stayed number 1 in one of the computers that makes up 1/3rd of the BCS. And you drop the highest and lowest rank out of the 6 computers so it wouldn't have really mattered.

No way ND would have stayed number 1 in a BCS poll post-bowls
