Nice to see former Gamecock Chris Culliver anticipating a route and making a huge interception late in the NFC Championship. Another instance of a big time player making a big play in a big game.

It was a great play. Also in that game, I didn't like the hands to the face call Matthews got, he just brushed him and the QB barely flinched, it should've been a no call.

Yeah being a Falcons fan I really can't see anything positive in Culliver making that play.

Culliver made a great play. Who's the last Gamecock to be a starter in the Super Bowl?

The punter for the Niners is also a SC native. Although, I think he graduated for Pitt. As for as last starter for Super Bowl, didnt we have a lineman on the Panthers starting Super Bowl Oline? Nesbit, Meredith, or Campbell?

Here is the official USC post game interview with Cully. I really like seeing this sort of Garnet love from former players.

No, but Travelle Wharton was drafted by the Panthers a few months afterward.

Of course, the Greenville News shows a different former USC CB who plays for the Falcons, Duanta Robinson, in a crestfallen pose on the front of the sports page.
Taters. The whole staff. |

Being a 49ers fan and because it was a Gamecock that made the play, it was the play of the game for me. Really happy to see Culliver make a big play and to see my team back in the Super Bowl. It's been too long.

2 turnovers that game that former gamecocks were responsible for. Culliver on the pick, and Dunta Robinson with a forced fumble.

It's awesome to see all the former Gamecocks doing so well, and really great to see Cully overcome his injuries in college to become a great NFL'r. I'm really impressed with him because I had some serious doubts that he'd ever be able to make a legitimate tackle at this level.
