SEC vs. Big Ten athletic spending article

Hey all-

Good article on the enormous amounts of money spent by all FBS schools. Short version-the SEC spends about 50K more per athlete than my Big Ten. The actual total amounts are much more comparable, but SEC schools in general apparently have fewer sports than Big Ten schools.

Also some fun stuff about other topics, including an NCAA move toward sanity when it comes to those ticky-tack violations. I WOULD like to know why the writer references Ole Miss as a school that's cheating out of control-any insight from you guys?

I'd like some insight from you, is the Big10 ever going to change the name? It was laughable when it was the Big11 but now its just sad.

I totally agree with you, but think it makes way too much sense for our conference commissioner to do it. Most BT fans have hated most of what he's done for the last few years-I mean, nothing screams Midwest tradition like adding Rutgers and Maryland, right?
Our division names-Leaders and Legends? Seriously? And let's put Michigan and OSU in separate divisions so they can play the last game of the season-and then possibly play again a week later for the championship. We're all looking forward to that, or not.

I'm glad to know B1G feel the same way I do. I just want to go to the commissioner and be like 'C'mon! Get your @#$% together! You have 12 teams now! Either be the Big 12, or change your name to something that doesn't have a number in it! The Big Legends and Leaders! What an awful, awful way to name divisions. It reeks of trying to hard to be seen as a power conference. Seriously though, you no longer have 1G schools in your conference, you need to adjust. Just go ahead and become the Big 16 and water down your product.

But to address your former post, I think the Big10 is definitely making some plays to improve. I don't quite know what the calling card of the conference will be, but they aren't lying down.

The only problem for the Big 10 is that Mid West Conference is taken. I Think the Big North is a Div 2 conference.

But the nick name is awesome the B 1 G, Big 10 was never an abbreviation so why not?
