The University of Hawaii has a big problem with this. They serve beer during their football games and have drunken brawls all the time. Every couple of years someone tries to end the sale of beer in the games, but the public always wins out. I hate to admit it, but I imagine any SEC school would have the same issue, if not worse, if they sold beers in the game.

I don't know, because people drink anyway, the sale of beer in the stadium would actually do a lot to regulate it... arrests went WAY down at WVU when they started serving beer.

Yep, a lot of people drink way more than they can handle before games because they know (unless they sneak some in) that will be their drinks. They want that buzz to last the whole game. If they knew they could purchase beers inside, they wouldn't feel the need to overload themselves beforehand.

But seriously, this is my biggest gripe with people who insist on drinking at sporting events. Too many people do not know how to act when drinking. If you can't handle your alcohol, don't drink.

The players want to keep it because its a trip to Hawaii and a bonus.
And it still got about the same amount of viewers as the World Series. (Probably why the NFL hasn't gotten rid of it)
