SC native Dexter Morant no longer at UGA

UGA officially announced this morning that Dexter Morant was no longer a member of the team due to "academic considerations". He suffered through a lot of injuries and never made his way past scout team, unfortunately.

Some might remember when he first arrived on campus that he quit and moved back home within a week or two; only to ask to rejoin the team a couple of days later. It's unknown if he'll attempt to play elsewhere.

Sorry to hear that for him. Hopefully he lands on his feet. Good thing we missed on him though.

We played this season with 72 (yes, seven and two) scholarship players...we are so far under numbers that we can take 35 and not have to cut anyone.

There was talk of him going to SC State a couple of years ago, I hope he gives them or another FCS school a shot.

That's what Saban does at Alabama. He will cut the bottom 10-12 scholarship players every year. That is why they can always bring in 25 or more recruits in each class.

Considering it isn't the true not really. Being so far under the limit then having guys go pro we could sign 40 and still be under the 85 limit.

Yeah, uga was way under the limit, so its probably not a numbers deal. Probably more of a bad grades issue.

All good programs encourage a percentage of players to transfer to another school. Statistics make it impossible to bat 1.000 on recruiting. Some players just don't develop into the two deep. For those who want to play more football instead of riding the pine at an SEC school, it makes sense to transfer to another school.

Spurrier also does this. That's why you see juniors walking at senior day.
