Default Salaries of former Gamecocks in the NFL

I was really surprised to see how many former Gamecocks have multi-million dollar salaries in the NFL. From my unscientific survey it appears that Jonathan Joseph is the highest paid Gamecock making about $9 million per year and rising. I was surprised who is the second highest paid Gamecock was. Any guesses as to who he is? Anyway, we should be using this in recruiting. Our players are doing well.

Great point. Sure, you have those great recruits that are extremely team oriented and are solely focused on team goals (thankfully we have had a ton of these guys recently aka Dylan, Connor, Marcus, Kenny, and so many more); but just as many of them have heads filled with dollar signs from the minute they get bigtime college offers. In no way am I saying that striving for a lucrative NFL contract is a bad thing, but it is when guys let it get in the way of their athletic and academic focus that it becomes a detriment. That being said, having a strong recent history of Gamecocks making NFL money is something that we must use to our advantage and put on display. Most schools do in fact make an effort to utilize their NFL lineage if they can, they would be foolish not to. All it takes is a walk through the facilities of NFL-rich programs such as Alabama, LSU, Southern Cal, Texas, Tennessee etc to see that NFL lineage plays a big role in recruiting.

Joseph signed a 5 year $48.75 million contract with $23.5 mil guaranteed.
In 2013 Joseph's base salary will be 7.5 mil.

Dunta Robinson signed a 6 year $57 million contract with $25.5 mil guaranteed.
In 2013 Robinson's base salary will be 8 mil.

Sidney signed a 5 year $41 million contract with 18.5 mil guaranteed.
His base salary next year will be 8.5 mil

I believe those are the 3 highest.

I believe those are the 3 highest.

Dunta was the second highest for the year although he restructured his contract which reduced it to just below Sidney's. However with his extra playoff money, I was told he passed Sidney for annual comp. Still we have players like John Abraham, Sheldon Brown, Travelle Wharton, Stephon Gilmore (with signing bonus averaged in), Melvin Ingram (again with bonus), Ryan Succopp and one or two more making multi-million dollars per year. Alshon is close. Jasper Brinkley will be a free agent and he started almost all year so he will get his. Not sure about Jared Cook or Munnerlyn. Still, good to see our players getting rich. Of course, Clowney will blow them all out of the water. I hope Latti gets his as well.

Actually with the numbers for the 2013-2014 season it will be Sidney Rice8.5, Dunta Robinson 8, then Johnathan Joseph 7.5

last year it was Joseph 7.5, then Rice 7, then Robinson 5.5

The nice thing is that the NFL players are coming back and hanging around with the team a lot more than they ever had before. Not sure if that is due to comaraderie or if they like watching since the team is hot. Whatever, it can't hurt and can only help to have them around.

the Rotoworld numbers aren't exactly accurate as they only show the base and don't include the signing bonus allocation. With the signing bonus allocation JJ's number go up to 9.5 million and Dunta and Sidney are just over 8 million. Dunta's numbers are harder to figure because he agreed to move his comp around to help the Falcons with the salary cap. Still, these guys make a bunch of money.
