Elliott Fry (2013 preferred walk-on)

Elliott is simply an oustanding kicker. He has a big time leg and gets great height on his ball off the ground. Kicks well under pressure. One of the most consistent all around performers in the nation. Kickoffs and Field Goals are ready for D1 college football right now. He is also a great punter. His punting is also D1 ready. A top national combo player without a doubt. Has a great attitude and work ethic. Has proven he is worthy of a D1 scholarship. Great prospect. OFFER NOW!!! Turned down D1 offer and will commit to South Carolina as a preferred walk on. Huge pick up for South Carolina.

Fry will join Max Huggins of Myrtle Beach as invited walk-on kickers at USC in the fall.

Sounds like we will have quite the battle at kicker with St. Germain and Ard along with these two guys.

And who knows, one of those walkons could be our punter (Tyler Hull was capable, but he needs competition and it doesn't sound like he is getting it from our SCHOLARSHIP PUNTER Patrick Fish).

walkon, scholarships...whatever they are. I guarantee there is someone currently in our student body who can kick field goals more consistently.

Many of us in the stands this year felt like Special teams was the weakness of our team. Our coverage was bad (and they should feel bad) and our punts were never spectacular as well as our field goal kicking left something to be desired (especially against Michigan). Hopefully we'll improve on this side of the ball

I don't think it was just us...I was surprised to look back and see we only made 11 field goals all year and only attempted 17. As a point of interest, we attempted the same number of fourth down conversions and made 10.

From this, I agree with Spurrier. I say we get rid of the field goal unit all together and focus more on fourth down conversions. 6 > 3.

go for two everytime.

Weirdly too, as much as the kicking was hard to watch, I don't think we missed a PAT this year for the first time in a long time it seems.
