![]() One Big Question: South Carolina Football 2014
June 26th, 2014 11:15 AM ║ Posted By: John Pennington ║ Permalink ║ Schools: South Carolina steve-spurrier-looks-over-shoulderSteve Spurrier has already proven himself to be one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football. He turned Florida into a dynasty in the 1990s. More remarkably, in his 60s, he turned South Carolina into a national power in the 2010s. The same South Carolina that had won three bowl games in its first 110 years of playing football. The same Carolina that had won one conference championship (in the ACC in 1969) in school history. The same USC that had never won a division championship since joining the SEC in 1992. The past three seasons, Spurrier has led the Gamecocks to identical 11-2 marks and three top 10 finishes. He’s done so with a once-in-a-lifetime defensive star in Jadeveon Clowney and a pure winner in quarterback Connor Shaw. Now he faces a new task — winning without them. Has South Carolina reached the point where they simply reload? Last edited by johnnyb; 06-26-2014 at 08:47 PM.. Reason: please post the first paragraph or so of an article and link to the remainder |

![]() I recommend when we go to the swamp we run the ball all game and don't make any pass attempts.

![]() No disrespect to JD, but he was one of 11 guys on defense. 11 other guys on offense had a LOT to with the recent years of success.
Just because JD is gone, the front line may be less disruptive, but Devin also deserves a lot of credit for that. Either way, Gamecock defense is a young athletic bunch and can make a lot of people believers. |

![]() LOL yes he was a once a generation type of talent, but he wasn't the whole damn defense.
