I do not condone the wholesale slaughter of so many sharks. That is a damn shame if you ask me.
Still- It is scary to think we have sharks that size swimming off our shores... |

I refuse to get in water I cannot see my feet in, because of those things. Well that jellyfish and crabs. I tend to be unlucky as hell when it comes to getting stung by jellyfish and pinched by crabs in the water.

wonder what pound test he was using. I figured the hook would be bigger. I'd love to catch one. That's why I don't get in the ocean anymore either. I've fished off too many piers and seen how many sharks are around and would rather not take a chance.

I believe that's a tiger shark. Note the notched teeth and the faint pattern of stripes on the sides. Bull sharks seldom grow longer than 6.9 feet, and that brute looks to be close to 10.

A guy jumped off his dock into Boca Ceiga Bay and was immediatly attacked. He managed to climb back on the dock, but died a few minutes later. That's when I started learning more about that breed and why it's a good idea to excercise extreme caution swimming in Florida waters, as we lead the nation in fatal shark attacks. |

It's a bull. The stripes aren't pronounced well enough and the snout is too blunt for it to be a tiger. Plus the species exhibits sexual dimorphism in that the females can grow over 12 feet in length.

That's a bull shark. Freaking beautiful too. We have makos and hammerheads off our coast, but bulls are different. They can go from salt water to fresh water and back again with no problems. That's why they've been seen and caught in rivers.
P.S. Yes, I said beautiful. I love sharks and have been very interested in them for as long as I can remember.
