Frank Martin on the radio

Is it me or has Frank been on the radio far more often than Horn? It seems like he's on 107.5 or 560 every week. I don't remember Horn ever doing many interviews with either station.

Am I correct on this? Is this a sign of Martin working harder with the media than Horn? Or is it that Tanner is allowing his coaches to do more interviews than Hyman was?

I'd agree, but Martin has more obstacle to overcome


1. The USC basketball program wasn't near as bad when Horn took over. At least with Odom we had 2 NIT Championships, 1 NCAA Appearance, and a NIT runner-up. The last 2 years under Horn were awful

2. USC Football wasn't near this good when Horn took over. Many fans spent money on The Outback Bowl and might not have the money to spend on sporting events now.

3. Baseball was good, but not coming off 3 straight NC game appearances. The sport now overshadows basketball like never before

4. Football is a much more expensive sport to follow in 2012 than it was in 2007. Some fans have dropped basketball expenses in favor of the new increases in football

5. More games are on TV now than there were in Horn's first year. SEC basketball TV deal is better and more people have HD TV

This is all Martin imo. Martin seems to embrace the media and knows how it can be beneficial to him and his program. Seemed like Horn viewed dealing with the media as a necessary evil and there was almost a mutual dislike between Horn and media members.

He has the same obstacle that Horn had, win and they will come, promise!! He has something Horn did not, he has big time experience and knows what it takes to build a program, we were hoping Horn could firgure it out.

For the record Horn or better yet we as fans and USC were robbed in 09 when we won the East but tennessee gets the at large and Miss St wins the SEC tourney.

Well, technically Tennessee won the East. We were both 10-6, but the Vols swept us in the regular season. Our RPI was in the high 60s and UT was in the 20s. They deserved to go and we couldn't really complain having a RPI that low. Plus, we lost our first NIT game at home.

Martin and or Tanner are making it a priority to get the word out and promote the bball program. ESPN radio in Spartanburg commented yesterday that they had a phone call from the information director asking if they're interested in interviewing a USC bball assistant coach. They said yes and also said that this was a first for them, having the school call instead of them calling the school. I like it.
