I too think it's going to be hard to pull this guy from Alabama, but if he has legitimate interest in us and we stay on him, maybe we can get a steal. Seems like we're long overdue for a five star out-of-state commit.

I agree we should keep this one going. This kid is definately a steal if we can get him from Bama or anybody for that matter.

Kid has some serious wheels and one thing we could offer is quick playing time while if he were to go to Bama he would be competing with older 5 Stars.

Only chance is that he wants to go to another school than Bama because he wants to make his own name and way instead of the same school where his dad played, like Peyton Manning went to UT instead of Ole Miss (Archie Manning), while brother Eli did want to go to Ole Miss, too. Different things appeal to some and not to others.

My father was very successful in a particular business by working his way up the ladder from a salesman following WWII to eventually becoming President of a particular company that later had branches all over the country and was one of the most successful outfits in the nation, by total sales, although it was one of the smaller sized companies in the nation, in its field. My older brother went into the same business where he had a good career, and I went into the same business after graduation, but left after about 9 months because I hated sales and many other demands it brought. I could have stayed and probably gone into a different section to work and built a nice career of my own, but I did not want to be recognized by my last name by everyone as associated with my father. I wanted to be known by what I did, not my last name (the name would mean nothing to anyone not in the business many years ago, now). Leaving led me into a far more difficult and dangerous career, but my family background was unknown and unimportant there. That is what I wanted, not to disrespect dad, but knowing I certainly was not him and did not want to pretend I was.

So, the most obvious or easiest path is not always the best one. The same could hold true for this young man.

I tend to respect people more for taking the difficult path and earning their own way rather than having it given to them. Good story, but we ain't getting Humphrey.
