I agree, but IF UCLA beats Stanford,and Oregon beats Oregon State then Oregon will play UCLA in the Pac12 title game which will give them another game vs a ranked opponent.

Good point.....it's going to be close, and the one left out is going to be really pissed.
If Barkley doesn't play this week, there is no way ND loses to Southern Cal.

I for one do believe they don't deserve it, it weakens the importance of the regular season. Unfortunately its completely impossible to have anything resembling a balanced schedule (in CFB at least, the professional leagues is a different story) but any kind of playoff introduces some amount of randomness to the result.

Of the playoff systems, the world series pre-divisions and DH rules when it was simply pennant winners was the best playoff for an unbalanced league.
